True Crime Presentation: A Murder In Wampum

Follow the twists and turns during a true crime presentation that will spotlight a century old murder mystery.

A MURDER IN WAMPUM “The 1918 Slaying of William Cassler” will be presented by Lawrence County Commissioner Dan Vogler next week.

The True Crime Presentation will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. at the Main Street Chapel & Events, located at 911 Clyde Street, Wampum, PA 16157.

“This is a true story and the information presented is taken from newspaper articles that appeared in the New Castle News at that time,” says Vogler. “The story is a most interesting one in that the information regarding the murder itself only takes up about 20% of the story.”

What transpired following the murder makes up most of the story as it relates to the person who committed the murder.

There are a number of twists and turns that take place during and following the arrest of the murderer as well as during and after his trial.

Tickets are $5.00 and refreshments and spirits will be available. For tickets and more information, please call 724-535-8866 or contact Marsha Moore at marshamoore727@gmail.com.

Proceeds benefit the Wampum 225th Anniversary Celebration.  The Wampum celebration is slated to take place next month, August 4th thru August 7th.

This is the second true crime presentation Vogler has made.

Several years back he gave a talk to the Lawrence County Historical Society about a series of homicides that occurred in Lawrence County in 1929 and 1930. Vogler also gave that same talk to the Ellwood City Historical Society a few years ago.
