Don’t Miss the Dog Days of Summer Event

It’s going to be a doggy dog world at Ewing Park this weekend! Don’t miss this year’s Dog Days of Summer event happening tomorrow June 24 and Sunday June 25 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., rain or shine. The event, which is sponsored by Reeds Services, will benefit police K9s and will feature dock diving dogs, barn dogs, working dogs & k-9 police competitions all weekend long. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Anthony Cirelli, 33, of Ellwood City is charged with Aggravated Assault after an incident on May 17th. According to a criminal complaint, police received a call for a male that was assaulted with a ball bat at a residence on Franklin Avenue. According to the complaint, a female resident was at the property when Cirelli struck the male victim in the head with a bat. Lawrence County To Receive Funding From Marcellus Drilling Impacts

HARRISBURG – Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) today announced nearly $353,000 in impact fees paid by Marcellus Shale drilling companies will benefit residents of the 9th Legislative District. For the reporting year of 2022, natural gas producers paid nearly $279 million in impact fees statewide, for a total of $2.5 billion over the past 11 years. Borough Manager Announces Projects During Council Voting Meeting

During Monday’s Borough Council Meeting, Borough Manager Kevin Swogger said many projects are planned across the borough of Ellwood City including the addition of a handicapped bathroom at Ewing Park. He also said the borough is working on getting quotes for signs to be placed at the entrances to town at 488 in Ellport and Route 65 from New Castle. The Ellwood City Kitchen Cabinet is partnering with the borough to provide a portion of funding for the project. Divine Grace Parish Food Bank Receives Proclamation

Mayor Anthony J. Court proudly presented a proclamation to Divine Grace Ministerium Social Services and Food Bank on Wednesday, June 14th. Application Deadline Nears For Record 155 BC3 Scholarships

Six scholarships administered by the Butler County Community College Education Foundation will debut in the 2023-2024 academic year and increase to 155 the record number of named financial awards available to BC3 students, a college administrator said. Students registered in fall 2023 credit programs can apply for a scholarship until July 1, said Bobbi Jo Cornetti, development coordinator of the foundation that distributed 148 named financial awards and a record $292,123 to BC3 students in the 2022-2023 academic year.
