Corona D’Italia April Meeting

Officers and members of Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 13 at 5 p.m. at Pizza Joe’s. The session began with the pizza luncheon hosted by President Clemmy Sirimarco and served by Sentinel Lois DiFrischia. Mistress of Ceremonies Mary Quintanilla voiced the invocation for the Easter season. Orator Valerie Valentino presented candy favors and decorated Easter baskets filled with candy and chips to each person in attendance. Class of 1954 April Meeting

Pudue La Cava hosted the 1954 Lincoln High School “Life is a Beach” committee at her Mt. Vernon Drive home on Thursday, April 14 at 4 p.m. The session began with a luncheon provided by committee members Ann Amadio, Ilene Gardner, Jan Keenan, Clemmy Sirimarco and LaCava and served by LaCava and Gardner. Gardner conducted the business session that followed. Sirimarco presented the financial reports and updated all the fundraising activities. Write On Fair at the Ellwood Library Celebrates Local Authors

Becoming a published author is no easy feat, and there are over 30 published authors in the Ellwood area. To honor these individual and celebrate local literary culture, the Ellwood City Area Public Library will host an author fair this Friday, April 29. Write On, organized by the Ellwood City Library 100th Anniversary Committee, will showcase 22 local authors. The committee identified over 30 authors, but not all were able to attend. Yard Waste and Recycling Calendar Available on Borough Website

The Ellwood City Borough wishes to inform residents that a yard waste and recycling calendar can be accessed on the borough website. The schedule includes 2016 and 2017. Yard waste pickups will be held for one week each month from May through November, except for October which will have two weeks. Recycling is every other week year round. The calendar can be viewed here.


CCBC Student Awarded Hayden Juried Purchase Prize for Painting

Monaca, Pa. – The Hayden Juried Purchase Prize in Painting was awarded to student artist Angela Paterchak at this year’s An Evening of the Arts on April 21. Established through the CCBC Foundation, the Purchase Prize awards a $200 annual prize to one student for excellence in oil painting. Angela’s oil painting entitled “Bob Marley” was chosen by judges Scot Rutledge, Digital Marketing Services Manager at CCBC, and Megan Cassioli, Graphics Specialist at CCBC, as this year’s prize winner. “All of the submitted artwork was exceptional, but Angela’s stood out due to her skill and color composition,” Rutledge said. “She…


Earth Day Attracts Hundreds to Ewing Park to Celebrate the Planet

An estimated 700 visitors passed through Ewing Park to visit the annual Lawrence County Earth Day Celebration. Grand Finale Salon on 301 North St. is now open for business under owner Maria Perrotta. Perrotta has 38 years experience working in a hair salon and decided to take the next step and own her own salon. The business is dedicated to her late brother who always wanted Perrotta to start a business. She works with one employee, Julie Yoho. Local Emergency Responders Receive State Grants

Lawrence County Emergency Responders Receive State Grants Thirteen Lawrence County fire companies, 44 fire and ambulance companies in Beaver County and five fire and EMS companies in Butler County were recently awarded state grants, according to Senator Elder Vogel.
