Bradys Run Park Holding Hazardous Waste Collection Event In October

Safely dispose of common household chemicals and take advantage of the Beaver County Hazardous Waste Collection event that is scheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2022. The collection takes place at Bradys Run Park Recycling Center in Brighton Township and is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  A $20.00 fee covers disposal up to 10 gallons/50 pounds of the following materials: Aerosol cans,  automotive fluids, motor oil, transmission fluid, antifreeze, brake fluid, batteries, camp fuel/small propane bottles, chemistry sets,  compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs), electronic cigarettes, gasoline and kerosene, household cleaners, ammonia, drain openers, acid cleaners, oven cleaners, mercury thermometers, paint…


ECIAHF September Meeting Recap

The Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation (ECIAHF) held its monthly meeting Friday September 23 at Hunter Brother’s Coffee located in the Ole Ellport School. The meeting was opened with A Prayer For A Grateful Heart, and World War II Veteran and Hero Sgt. Guy Prestia led the Pledge of Allegiance. Ellwood City Fire Department To Host Town Hall Meeting On Monday

The Ellwood City Fire Department will host a town hall meeting on Monday. The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and in regards to a tax referendum question borough residents will answer on the November 8 election.  The question is: Would you accept a new one mill tax in order to pay for advanced life support services? The meeting will take place at the fire hall located 411 6th Street. If passed, the fire department would be able to hire a 24/7 licensed paramedic position to the force. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

ENDANGERING WELFARE OF CHILD: On August 2nd at approximately 5:29 p.m., Ellwood City Police were dispatched to an area of Haig Street and Madison Avenue for a caller reporting a 4-year-old girl by herself sitting in the middle of the road. The caller advised no parents around and when police responded to the scene and spoke with the caller they were advised this is an ongoing issue with the child. Butler Health System Offering Additional Vaccine Clinics

In its continued battle against COVID-19, Butler Health System will be offering the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine. This protein subunit vaccine is authorized for people 12 years old and up. Its primary series is two doses, 4 weeks apart. Unlike other currently available COVID-19 vaccines, the Novavax shot contains no mRNA or viral particles, only a protein, making it similar to the annual influenza vaccine. The CDC currently recommends that people who get two doses of Novavax should later get a bivalent booster (from Pfizer or Moderna). Bernstine’s Markie’s Law Legislation Awaiting Governor’s Signature

HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) announced today that his legislation, which focuses on the parole process for violent offenders, is on its way to Gov. Tom Wolf’s desk. Borough Council Welcomes Jr. Councilperson; to hire Borough Manager

Ellwood City Borough Council welcomed Jr. Councilperson Kaden Schlichtkrull during the regular meeting Monday night. Schlichtkrull, a senior at Lincoln High School, was administered the oathe of office by Mayor Anthony Court before joining council at the table. He’s also involved in cross country, track, tennis, student council, and plays the trumpet in the band.
