REMINDER: Ellwood City Historical Society Scholarship Deadline Approaching

A reminder to Lincoln High School and Riverside High School seniors: The annual Ellwood City Area Historical Society Scholarship submission is quickly approaching. The deadline is Thursday April 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will award two $1500.00 scholarships to two (2) graduating seniors. Graduating seniors from Lincoln High School and Riverside High School who have been accepted to attend a college, Trade School or Performing Arts are eligible. Registration Events Now Available For “Pick Up Pennsylvania”

Everyone wants to live, work, and play in a clean and green community… and it’s up to everyone to make it possible and improve the overall quality of life for us all. Ellwood City Borough Hiring Summer Employees, Community Outreach Coordinator

Ellwood City Borough is hiring. Jobs available include summer employment for park manager; parks, playground and concession stand coordinator; playground instructors; and concession stand employees. The borough is also looking to add a part-time Community Outreach Coordinator to the staff. Borough Manager David Allen said the position will pay $14 an hour and will include tasks such as website coordination, social media posting and engagement, community outreach with local events and groups, and grantwriting. Riverside Beaver County School District to Present Matilda

Note: This is the first in a two-part series featuring Riverside’s production of Matilda. Tomorrow’s article will feature four of the musical’s leads. It’s the ultimate girl boss production. Franklin Township 2022 Clean-Up Day Announced

Clean up your yard, clean up your home, and clean up your garage! Franklin Township residents are invited to participate in a township clean-up day planned for Saturday, May 7, 2021. Ellwood Group Announces Five $10,000 Scholarships To Be Awarded to Graduating Seniors

Ellwood Group, Inc. has recently announced a unique scholarship opportunity available to high school seniors and/or those who have successfully completed the GED test who plan to attend an accredited trade school following graduation. The ELLWOOD Industrial Maintenance Scholarship is being made available to those 2022 graduates who are considering pursuing a certificate or degree in Mechatronics, or an equivalent industrial maintenance program. Woodske Speaks At EC Historical Monthly Meeting

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society met Monday March 14. President Everett Bleakney opened and welcomed those in attendance. Guy Prestia, a WWII veteran led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag. A moment of silence in memory of four past presidents was observed. They were Glen Koach and Robert Barensfeld in 2021 and Jim Hockenberry and Karen Guy in 2022. Lous Liebendorfer, secretary and Charles Brown, treasurer gave their monthly reports which were approved as given. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: On March 15, at approximately 5:05 p.m., PA State Police were dispatched to a residence on Park Drive, Wampum Borough, Lawrence County to investigate a report of criminal mischief. According to the report, an unknown actor(s) damaged a door hinge on a tool shed at the Wampum Park.
