High school sports are back in full swing as winter sports have picked up since the holiday break. Basketball and Hockey are among the popular sports for students at Lincoln. We caught up with the athletes of those teams to see what they are doing to prepare for the upcoming rivalries, to offer some perspective on the season ahead and their plans for the future. Ellwood City Borough Council to Advertise Bids for Waste Collection

Trash was the top topic at Ellwood City’s Borough Council meeting Monday night. Council voted to advertise bids for the collection of refuse, recycling, and yard waste. Borough Manager David Allen said this is just the bidding process and that a final decision as to the process and collection company will come later. Katie’s Korner Announces MLK Day of Service Donation

As we celebrate a day of recognition for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a local ice creamery is giving back. Katie’s Korner of North Sewickley Township will be donating 100% of its business income on Martin Luther King Day 2021 to the Beaver branch of the Literacy Pittsburgh program. Literacy Pittsburgh’s Beaver office provides free literacy programs for adults throughout Beaver County. Portersville Man Sentenced for Role in Drug Trafficking Conspiracy

PITTSBURGH – A resident of Portersville, PA, has been sentenced in federal court to time served followed by three years’ supervised release on his convictions of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine, conspiracy to distribute heroin, and conspiracy to distribute cocaine, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced on Thursday. Senior United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab imposed the sentence on Ray Chrzanowski, age 53. Calvin Presbyterian Church To Host GriefShare Program

Calvin Presbyterian Church will once again host a 13-week GriefShare program this winter each Sunday beginning February 14 and concluding May 23. The program will take place each Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 pm. The program will not meet on Easter (April 4) or Mother’s Day (May 9) and is sponsored by Calvin Presbyterian Church, with Ginny Brest as the facilitator. Ellwood City jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 71-44 section victory on the road Tuesday night over Mohawk. Alexander Roth and Steve Antuono each scored seven first quarter points for the Wolverines who jumped out to a commanding 27-6 lead.
