Ellwood City Tennis will feature many new players this year and will be developing according to head coach John DiBuono. “We are rebuilding this year,” said DiBuono. “We have a good group of boys this season that are willing to learn the game of tennis. Area School Districts Slated To Receive Nearly $40 Million To Keep Students Learning During Pandemic

Ellwood City and Riverside School Districts are among the area school districts expected to receive approximately $37.2 million in federal funding to ensure programs, services and safety measures are in place as more students return to the classroom announced by Governor Tom Wolf this week. Ellwood City baseball and softball programs took to the fields this month as a start to their respective spring seasons with each having new outlooks on the long anticipated season. Ellwood City Softball Off To Torrid Start, Defeating New Brighton & Ambridge

Ellwood City started their season off in grand fashion as they invoked the mercy rule in both game over the weekend as the Wolverines easily dispatched New Brighton and Ambridge. On Friday, in their 13-1 victory, the Wolverines started out quickly as lead off batter Kali Barnett reached on an error on the right fielder and later scored on a sacrifice fly to center field by Angie Nardone. Ellwood City Area Historical Society Planning Local Sports Stars Awards Parade

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society would like to recognize the best athletes, past and present, who were born in Ellwood City area or who went to Lincoln or Riverside High Schools with a sports banquet later this year. This is a call for our members to nominate an athlete in any varsity or club sport offered by the high schools as well as baseball, football, basketball, boxing, wrestling, swimming, softball, hockey, auto racing or any other recognized sport. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY: According to PA State Police, during the overnight hours between March 13 and March 14, a burglary took place in Perry Township. It was reported between 9pm on Saturday and 10:00am on Sunday, March 14th an unknown forced entry into a garage on Van Gorder Mill Road and stole several items. Some of the items taken from the garage include a chainsaw, several chains, rigid power tools, excaliber crossbow, quad winch and other miscellaneous tools.
