POLICE: Weekly Blotter

ELLWOOD WOMAN CHARGED IN CAPITOL RIOTS:
Julia Jeanette Sizer of Ellwood City surrendered Thursday morning on multiple charges as a result of her attendance at the January Capitol riots. According to court documents, Sizer entered the Capitol eight minutes after the “original surge” forced their way through the door and stayed in the Senate Press Gallery foyer for less than three minutes before leaving the building. Sizer is being charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct in a Capitol building and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building.

CHILD PORNOGRAPHY:
Cecil Eugene Roof Jr., 37, Ellwood City, is charged with multiple counts of child pornography after his arrest this week. According to a criminal complaint, police obtained a search warrant for the phone and found about 90 photo albums on the phone that included sexual images of children ranging from age 3 to mid to late teens. The content included photos and videos of children either nude, partially nude or performing sexual acts on adults or other children. Roof was arested and charged after his interview with Ellwood City Police whom obtained the photo from an acquaintance. He was arraigned and sent to the Lawrence County jail on $100,000 bond.

ASSAULT/HARRASSMENT:
On August 31, at approximately 3:00 a.m., New Castle State Police responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arriving to a residence in Wampum, PA, it was determined Justin Norris, 43, of Wampum, was engaged in a dispute with a 42-year-old female victim that escalated into physical violence. Norris is charged with simple assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and harassment, and was subsequently incarcerated at the Lawrence County Jail.

BURGLARY:
According to a criminal complaint, Daniel DeBlasio, 34, New Castle, is charged with burglary, theft, and unauthorized use of motor vehicle after an incident on August 21. According to the report, at approximately 5:30 a.m police were dispatched to a residence on Hollow Road in Wayne Township where the victim had related that his son, DeBlasio, had stole his 2012 Ford Fusion vehicle from his driveway.  Police found DeBlasio at the base of the driveway and interviewed DeBlasio whom related he also took a hand held flashlight and batter from the garage and furthermore was not allowed into the house since he was released from jail in July.



ASSAULT:
According to a criminal complaint, on August 16th at approximately 8:09 a.m. police were called to 720 Lawrence Avenue (Uni-Center) for a reported domestic incident. Upon arrived police spoke with Eddie Laurain, 51, Ellwood City, and his girlfriend, Brook Colao, 39, Ellwood City, whom both live together in the complex.  Upon interviewing each actor, it was determined that each party engaged in acts of violence, including choking, hitting, and kicking. Laurain admitted to choking Colao and Colao admitted to kicking Laurain in the groin and attacking him with a ball bat. Both continued to argue while police were at the residence. Laurain is charged with Strangulation and Simple Assault while Colao is charged with Harrassment and Simple Assault.

ASSAULT/ENDANGERING WELFARE OF CHILD:
Dalton James Hewitt, 24, of Wampum, is charged with simple assault, endangering the welfare of children and harassment after an incident in August. According to the criminal complaint, Hewitt inquied with ECPD about a CYS report filed against him by his girlfriend and her 4-year-old son. After further investigation, a CYS case worked advised Hewitt is suspected of abusing the boy physically. When interviewed by ECPD, Hewitt advised he smacks the boy on the buttocks when he continues not to listen, however CYS provided photos of the buttocks which showed excessive bruising and furthermore the mother had taken the boy to UPMC Hospital for the injuries sustained.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT/DRUG PARAPHERNALIA:
According to a criminal complaint, and on August 8th at approximately 12:13 a.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance on Copper Road, New Castle where they found Junior Meyers, 34, of New Castle, and took Meyers into custody. At Meyers’ request to grab his belongings, a crack pipe was located. Meyers was found to have an active bench warrant out of Bulter County and was transported to Lawrence County Jail.

DUI:
Dustin Shirley, 31, of Koppel, is charged with DUI after a traffic stop on August 15. According to the report, at approximately 2:41 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop for expired registration with Shirley failed to pull to the side of the road and blocked an intersection. Shirely failed his field sobreity test and was arrested for driving under the influence and was transported to ECPD.

DUI:
Marie Hill, 58, of New Castle, is charged with DUI after a traffic stop on August 13. According to the report, at approximately 11:43 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop near Second Street near Fountain Avenue as the vehicle driven by Hill had no rear lighting activated.  After failing to hand the police officer her correct identification, Hill was asked to completed a field sobriety test where she failed. Hill was arrested for driving under the influence and transported to ECPD.
