VIDEO: Local Man Seriously Injured After Heavy Machinery Accident

According to a Pittsburgh news source, a Lawrence County man was seriously injured when he fell off some heavy machinery and was subsequently run over by it. According to a fire chief, a man was operating a brush hog and had fallen off. He was working in his yard on Dutch Run Road near Ellwood City, fell off and a neighbor had heard him yelling for help. The neighbor then called for help. The man was flown to a hospital in Pittsburgh “with injuries all over his body” according to the video report. source: pittsburgh.cbslocal.com


Belzyck and Kralic Shine for Riverside in Beaver County Championships

The Beaver County Championships were held this past Saturday at Riverside High School and teams from all over Beaver County came to compete at one of the first big invitational of the 2021 season. Seniors Colby Belzyck and Graham Kralic from Riverside High School each took first place in more than one event to propel the Panthers to another championship. The Panthers won the invitational in 2019, but last years meet was cancelled due to COVID-19. Ellwood City Borough Council will meet in person tonight, April 19, at 5:30 for a special meeting where council will consider the Intermunicipal transfer of liquor license (Barry Quick Mart, LLC). Two Area Clean-Up Days Announced

Both Brush Creek Park and River Road have scheduled Clean-Up Days in the month of April. Brush Creek has scheduled their Clean-Up Day for Thursday, April 22nd from Noon until Dusk. Volunteers are needed for this event to help out the community.  Take pride in your community and help clean up by picking up garbage, sticks, and brush. Bring a team, ask friends and co-workers. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

ASSAULT: A 27-year-old female from New Castle is charged with Simple Assault and Harrassment after an incident on April 10 in Wayne Township, Lawrence County. According to the PA State Police report, Caitlin Gardner engaged in a verbal altercation with her 56-year-old mother that led to Gardner pushing her mother as she left her residence on Ellwood Road. Lawrence County Announces $500M In Grant Funding For Paving Projects

Lawrence County is announcing $523,291.51 in grant funding for municipal paving projects through the Lawrence County Transportation Improvement Program, assisting with $1,590,708.04 in total paving project cost for 21 projects in 14 municipalities. “We’re glad to be able to assist our municipalities with this much needed infrastructure funding. While Lawrence County ultimately does not own any roads, infrastructure is a top priority for the Board of Commissioners and we will continue to fight for more funding to pave more roads and repair more bridges,” said Morgan Boyd, Chairman, Lawrence County Board of Commissioners. In a public meeting notice announcement, the Ellwood City Area School Board of Directors has changed the location of upcoming meetings. The Ellwood City Area School Board of Directors has moved the location of their May 6, 2021 Committee Meeting at 7:00 p.m. and the May 13, 2021 Regular Meeting at 7:00 pm. to the Hartman Intermediate Multi-Purpose room. The Committee Meeting is scheduled for June 2, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. has been cancelled due to graduation and the Regular Meeting scheduled for June 10, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. will now be a combined meeting.  


Ellwood City Softball Earns Big Comeback With Walkoff Victory

The Ellwood City softball team displayed a tremendous amount of character and grit with a great walk off win over Avonworth Wednesday afternoon at Stiefel Park. The team overcame two different deficits by scoring seven runs over the final two innings to earn the 7-6 victory.
