Bernstine’s Markie’s Law Legislation Vetoed by Governor

HARRISBURG – Legislation sponsored by Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) that would focus on the parole process for violent offenders was vetoed today by Gov. The Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation (ECIAHF) held its monthly meeting Friday September 23 at Hunter Brother’s Coffee located in the Ole Ellport School. Butler Health System Offering Additional Vaccine Clinics

In its continued battle against COVID-19, Butler Health System will be offering the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine. This protein subunit vaccine is authorized for people 12 years old and up. Its primary series is two doses, 4 weeks apart. Unlike other currently available COVID-19 vaccines, the Novavax shot contains no mRNA or viral particles, only a protein, making it similar to the annual influenza vaccine. The CDC currently recommends that people who get two doses of Novavax should later get a bivalent booster (from Pfizer or Moderna). HARRISBURG – Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) announced today that his legislation, which focuses on the parole process for violent offenders, is on its way to Gov. Tom Wolf’s desk. Beaver County Conservation District Hosting Tire Collection Event

The Beaver County Conservation District’s Mosquito Vector Disease Program is hosting a one-day tire collection at the district office and environmental center October 22, 2022. The collection is open to Beaver County residents and accepting car and light truck tires up to 20” off rim. This event is funded through the DEP West Nile Program. The cost is $1.25 per tire, this event is collecting a total tire count of 300.  This event is cash only. Event hours are 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Pre-Registration required for the tire collection event. BC3 Volleyball Upholds Highest Ranking In Program History

Lincoln High School graduate Breanna Reisinger is helping lead a Butler County Community College volleyball team that enters the second half of its 2022 regular season this week upholding the highest national ranking the program has had in its history. BC3, with a 7-2 record, was ranked No. 2 among 97 programs in a National Junior College Athletic Association Division III poll released Monday. The Pioneers were also ranked No. 2 in a Sept. 6 poll. EC Historical Society Monthly Meeting Wrap-Up

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society started their 2022-2023 season with a dinner meeting at the Connoquennesing Country Club on Monday, September 12th. President Everett Bleakney welcomed all in attendance, and reminded them of the Society’s mission to Collect, Protect, Preserve and make the History of the Ellwood City Area available to all. Gov. Wolf: $246 Million Awarded to Support Small Businesses Across Pennsylvania

The Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation was among the 21 economic development organizations to receive upwards of $123.8 million in revolving loan funds to help aid small businesses in the county. The Revolving Loan Fund program provides funding to economic development organizations to create or recapitalize revolving loan funds to support financing for Pennsylvania small businesses. The Lawrence County Economic Development Corporation is slated to received $1,122,500.00 in funds.
