In a notice made available by the district, the Ellwood City Area School District and its Board of Directors has scheduled a Safety Committee Meeting. The notice reads as follows: The Ellwood City Area School Board of Directors has scheduled a Safety Committee Meeting on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Board Room location in the Lincoln Jr. Sr. High School, 501 Crescent Avenue, Ellwood City, PA 1611 at 7:00 p.m.  


Butler Health System Administering Updated Bivalent COVID-19 Boosters

Butler Health System (BHS) will be offering the updated bivalent COVID-19 booster vaccine from Pfizer this week at two locations. This vaccine is authorized for people 12 years and older who have completed a primary vaccination series at least 8 weeks ago. People who have previously received a monovalent booster (the typical boosters up until now) should receive this updated bivalent booster if their last booster was 8 weeks ago or longer. The Ellwood City Lady Wolverines finished Week One of volleyball on a high note, earning a three-set sweep of the rival Riverside Panthers on Saturday afternoon. The victory came after defeating the South Side Rams 3-2 on Thursday. Ellwood City School District Closed Friday For District-Wide Safety Training

The Ellwood City Area School District will be closed on Friday, September 2nd for a district-wide safety training. The district will also remained closed on Monday, September 5th in observance of the Labor Day holiday. “The entire faculty and staff will be participating in an active shooter training on Friday,” said Superintendent Wesley Shipley in a statement. “Because this training is designed for all employees of the district, all district offices and buildings will be closed for the entire day on Friday.” Shipley advised to not be alarmed if you see an increased number of police personnel and vehicles around…

Members of Ellwood City Italian American Heritage Foundation (ECIAHF) met for their monthly meeting August 26,2022 at the Ellwood City Area Historical Society. Wolverines Fall Short In Season Opening Loss At Brentwood

Week Zero is officially in the books for the WPIAL as over 100 teams were in uniform during the Friday/Saturday action. The Wolverines made a trip down to Brentwood High School to take on the Spartans to begin the 2022 football campaign. Butler Health System Hosting Monkeypox Vaccine Clinic

Butler Health System was recently allocated a limited amount of the Jynneos smallpox/monkeypox vaccine and will be hosting a clinic at Butler Memorial Hospital (One Hospital Way, Butler, PA) on Tuesday, August 30th. These spots are limited and will be by appointment only, no walk-ins accepted. The vaccine is a two-dose series, given 4 weeks apart and individuals must meet certain criteria as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to be eligible. Bernstine Introduces Legislation to Enhance Classroom Safety

HARRISBURG – After the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas, where children and educators were killed at an elementary school, Rep.
