Wolves Club Honors The Carpenters Project

The Ellwood City Wolves Club Den 11 met on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at the Connequenessing Country Club and honored The Carpenter’s Project with their Pro Bono Publico Award.

“Pro Bono Publico” is the Wolves Club motto which means for the Good of The Public.

The Carpenters Project has been doing projects (painting, repairs, brush cleaning, power washing and installing handicap ramps) for area citizens since 2001. The projects are completed by volunteers from area churches and school students during one week in the summer, usually in July.

Steve Miller, the director the past 11 years, reports that their 150 volunteers completed 50 projects at 34 homes this past July. To be considered for a project you need to be a homeowner who lives in the home. There is no income requirement. Safety Issues are addressed first. Volunteers can be age 13 and up

Steve was presented with a certificate and Giant Eagle Gift Card.

The Club also honored the 26th Annual Gobbler’s Gallop: the local race held at Riverside High School on Thanksgiving. The Club has supported the Gallop from the beginning as their first tee shirts were made by Prints of Pennsylvania which was operated by Wolves Club member John Maielli. The Gallop benefits the Riverside and Ellwood City Cross Country Teams and the Education Foundation.
