Ellwood City Wolverines Can’t Catch Up To Armstrong

Ellwood City watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-4 loss to Armstrong on Saturday. Armstrong scored on a ground out by Caleb Harriger, a walk by Josh Hepler, an error, and a stolen base by Paul Cypher in a 5-run first inning. The Wolverines struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Armstrong, giving up 14 runs on 11 hits, with the defense surrendering four errors. Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Tuesday, April 3, at 10:00 a.m. — Family Laptime, a weekly program designed for babies, toddlers and preschoolers. Riverside Panthers Fall to Knoch After Sixth Inning Score

Riverside Panthers varsity baseball battled to tie their ball game late, but failed to hold the tie score int he sixth inning, surrendering two runs in a 4-2 defeat to Knoch on Wednesday at Pullman Park in Butler. The game was tied at two with Knoch batting in the bottom of the sixth when Gunnar Boehm’s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Knoch. Riverside lost despite out-hitting Knoch six to three. Six members of the Pittsburgh Steelers basketball squad took the court Wednesday night at 8pm against the Lincoln Caring Team.  Steeler players included notable former players Charlie Batch and Louis Lipps along with 2017 3rd round pick Cam Sutton who put on a show for the capacity crowd. Wolverine Baseball/Softball Teams Both Fall Behind Early, Defeated On Monday

The Ellwood City baseball squad watched their Monday afternoon game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-2 loss to Shenango. The Wolverines struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Shenango, giving up 13 runs. Before the Pittsburgh Steelers take the court at Lincoln High School on Wednesday night, a co-ed basketball game with players from past boys and girls teams at Lincoln High School will tip off in an alumni contest at 7:00pm. PHOTOS: Ellwood City Annual Easter Egg Hunt

This past weekend marked the 23rd Annual Community Easter Egg hunt which took place in Ewing Park for ALL area children ages 10 and under. This year the committee added one extra hunt to the event, a special hunt for Special needs and handicapped children.  In total, over 8,000 eggs were distributed through the various hunts along with 25 golden eggs that were redeemed for special prizes. PHOTOS: Local School Districts Collaborate to Advance STEAM Programs

Earlier this month, on March 7th, Hartman Intermediate School’s Arts and Bots Club, part of the Ellwood City Area School District, traveled to Mohawk Elementary to showcase their robotic Dr. Seuss characters and to assist in starting an Arts and Bots Club at Mohawk School District. The Hartman Arts and Bots Club, consisting of twenty 5th and 6th grade students, is under the direction of Alan Marsh, Elementary Art teacher, Scott Setzenfand, STEAM Facilitator, and Matt Skoczylas, Elementary Technology teacher.
