Thursday evening’s Ellwood City softball contest was called due to rain in the top of the second inning with the Wolverines leading 1-0 over Beaver Falls. Senior Breonna Streit led off with a base hit and scored on an RBI single by Maria Ioanilli to give the Wolverines the early lead.
Madi Krugh struck out two Tigers in her 1 1/3 innings before the rain forced the delay and cancellation.
The Lady Wolverines (5-4 overall) are next scheduled for road contest next week, first at Hopewell on Wednesday, May 9th, and later traveling to New Castle on Thursday, May 10th. Both games are schedule for 4:00pm starts.
