Trinity Lutheran Church Celebrates 125 Years

The Trinity Lutheran Church celebrated 125 years with a very special event last Sunday, June 9, 2019, receiving a commendation from the Borough of Ellwood City Mayor Anthony Court. “Trinity Lutheran and especially the parishioners have been a pillar in our community and that helps make Ellwood City what it is today,” said Court. “I was proud to present this proclamation for this most wonderful accomplishment!” According to the church website, their mission statement reads: We are committed to being God’s Presence in the Ellwood City area with a mission of evangelism and outreach that seeks to spread the Good…

2nd Winner For The Mayor Beautification Award

The second winner for the 2019 Mayor Beautification Award was announced this week by the Mayor’s Office. A restaurant gift certificate was presented to Marty Homner of Franklin Avenue, Ellwood City. His property shows the love and effort that Marty puts into it. The Mayor’s Office says congratulations to Mr. Homner on a great job. There are still four more winners to go. Two Lincoln High Graduates Receive Monetary Awards

Alex Joseph Fotia, Patricia Bernice McMillin and Hannah E. Froce are the 2019 Lincoln High School graduates who received monetary awards from the Lincoln High School Class of 1957. Alex was given the $5,000 award, Patricia won a $2,500 award and Hannah received $500 for writing the best essay. Their names were announced by James Meehan, ’57 class president, during Lincoln’s annual senior class recognition assembly. The three will be recognized at the ’57 class reunion luncheon in July. Unchained K9 Links Up To Ellwood City

Unchained K9 is a new, underground dog fence company local to Ellwood City. Dogs will wear a collar with radio frequency that alerts them when they try to approach/cross the underground wire. Owners Jim and Geri Lynn Cummings had come into this business on a whim. They had an underground dog fence for 11 years prior, and when they got a new puppy, it needed to be serviced. Library Activities For The Week Of June 10

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Big Shot Bobs Flying Into Town

Big Shot Bobs (BSBs) has made its debut in Ellwood City. The ‘House Of Wings’ held their opening night on Monday, June 3 hoping for a decent turnout, and they got more than just that. With over 100 orders, a 90-minute long wait, and when their phone lines became completely unavailable, people started coming into the 2nd Street location, it’s safe to assume Big Shot Bobs will become a town favorite in no time. Lawrence County Lions Club Plans Casino Trip

The Lawrence County Area Lions Club are planning a bus trip to the Meadows Casino on July 2, 2019. The bus will leave from Ewing Park across from the swimming pool at 8:30am. Reservations must be in by June 20th by calling Vicki at 724-758-0858. Messages will be returned. The $30.00 cost of the trip includes $25.00 in free play. Flood Help May Be Available For Franklin Township Residents

According to information made available by Franklin Township this week, residents may have help in recovering from the recent bouts of heavy rains and flooding that hit the area late last month. If you had first-floor damage to your house regarding the recent flash flood, please contact the township secretary, Shannon Schlosser, at twpsecretary@zoominternet.net to get a survey to fill out. The township has to collect a damage assessment report to submit to the County. The township will need at least 25 homes with first-floor damage and 19 million in damage throughout PA from that specific storm, to possibly be…

The Borough of Ellwood City and the Mayor’s Office has announced the 1st presentation of the “2019 Beautification Winner” Mayor Anthony J. Court awarded the beautification award to Mike and Shanna Meyer of Center Avenue, Ellwood City. The Meyer’s have done an amazing job making their property come to life and making Ellwood City proud.
