Library Activites For The Week Of March 11

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include MONDAY, MARCH 11 6:30 p.m. – “Classic Book Group for Adults,” the book group will be discussing the book “A Woman in White” by Wilkie Collins. TUESDAY, MARCH 12 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 months of age, toddlers, and preschoolers. Local YSU Student A Part Of Equestrian Team’s Ride To National Semifinals

The Youngstown State University Western Equestrian team has qualified for the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association Western Semifinals, March 16- 17, at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Stephanie Dessler, a Biology major from New Galilee, qualified individually and will also be a part of the YSU team advancing to Utah next week. Project Educate Trauma Workshop Scheduled

Project Educate will be hosting a complimentary workshop on little to big traumas and how to transcend them. This workshop will be held at National Grind on Monday, March 11 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. There will be beverages and snacks provided, as well as available child care. The workshop will be geared towards students aging from 14 to 21 along with their parents, families, and professional supports. Riverside’s Swim Team Making A Splash At WPIAL Championship

The Riverside swim team made a splash in the WPIAL championships this past weekend. On the first day, February 28, the Panthers were led by the 200-yard medley relay team of Alexander Roth, Josiah Shaffer, Graham Kralic and Donnie Paracca, which placed second with a time of 1:38.53, less than two-tenths of a second behind Indiana. The same quartet placed third in the 200 freestyle relay. “Nothing will keep them from doing their best! Ellwood City Native Hosting Prize Bash Benefit Luncheon

There will be a Prize Bash Luncheon held at the Ellwood City Saxon Club on Saturday, April 27 starting at 1:00 p.m. This luncheon will benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. All proceeds will go towards Kelly Coccia’s LLS Pittsburgh Women Of The Year campaign. The Ellwood City native, Coccia, will be hosting this event as one of her fundraising events. PHOTOS: New Public Works Building Construction Progress

As of their recent February meeting, the Borough of Ellwood City’s new public works building now has 100% all of its roofing work completed as well as 100% of the masonry work completed, according to Dan Franus, of Franus Architectural Associates, the architect behind the new 26,000 square-foot building behind constructed behind CVS Pharmacy. The fascia work is also 100% complete. Their overhead door installation is currently at 90%; all doors are installed, they are just working on the motorization of them. Riverside Swimming to WPIAL Championships

“We are a little fish in a big pond and we will leave our mark,” expressed Riverside Swim Team head coach Gwen Nulph when asked about the upcoming WPIAL Swimming Championships. They surely have owned up to this statement during the season and now turn their attention to the WPIAL Class AA championships. The small, co-op team consisting of Ellwood City and Riverside athletes is off to the championships carrying their undefeated, boys Class-AA section title with them.
