EC Softball Victorious In Blowout, Baseball Team Falls Short

The Ellwood City girls softball team exploded for 10 hits en route to a 15-0, mercy rule-shortened victory over Blackhawk on Monday at Stiefel Park.  The Lady Wolverines plated four runs in the first and two in the second before a nine-run third inning put the game quickly out of reach. Anna Ferrucci and Angie Nardone collected multiple hits for Ellwood City while four Wolverines knocked in multiple runs.  Ferrucci, Nardone, Makinley Magil, and Kyla Servick all posted two RBIs as part of a balanced offensive attack.  Every Wolverine starter reached base at least once in the contest. Ellwood City Library Activities For The Week Of March 25

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Riverside Basketball Player Selected For Roundball Classic All-Stars

Riverside senior Brian Macmurdo was selected to play in Saturday, April 13’s 3A v. 4A Roundball Classic All-Stars game. The game will be played at 6:00 p.m. “It’s an honor to be selected to play alongside so many great players,” said Macmurdo. Macmurdo led the Panther’s basketball team to countless victories with 14 points per game, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Joseph Alan “Jojo” Kelosky, age 33, of Wampum, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 16, 2019. Born May 25, 1985 in Ellwood City, he was the son of Todd Alan Kelosky and Georgean R. Wimer Kelosky. Jojo was a hard worker and was always seen smiling. He enjoyed collecting shoes, working out at the gym, and used headphones everywhere he went, listening to the music he loved. Aliquippa Man Convicted Of Assault In A Stabbing Case An Aliquippa man that was accused of stabbing another man after a fight in Aliquippa, has been convicted of assault. A jury found Carl Zedak, 52, guilty of aggravated assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. However, he was found not guilty of attempted homicide and possession of an instrument of crime, according to court records. This verdict was announced on Thursday. Ellwood City Local Boxer Fights For A Win

Ellwood City local boxer, Rosalindo Morales, took the win at a much-anticipated boxing match back in early February of this year. Morales now has been boxing for 13 years, and just had one of the biggest boxing match-ups yet. He was 2-0 going against the 2-1 Cleveland native Jeremy Abram at Mountaineer Casino in a scheduled four-round bout. This match was two months in the process, the idea came up in late December. Two Ellwood Students Selected For The Roundball Classic All-Stars

Ellwood City Wolverines basketball stars Broc Boariu and Isabella Roth have been selected to participate in the annual Roundball Classic All-Star Basketball Games set for April 12th and April 13th at Geneva College “I have worked so hard these past years, and I’m so glad that I have been selected to play with some of the best players in the WPIAL,” said Isabella Roth.
