Hitched and Unhitched: Ringing In The New Year

“Ringing in the new year” refers to the old tradition of celebrating beginnings and endings with bells. It comes from Alfred Lord Tennyson’s 1850 poem “Ring Out, Wild Bells.”  On another note, “bringing in the new year” references ushering in the new beginning. Early Lead For Wolverine Baseball Sets Stage For Victory

The Ellwood City Wolverines boys grabbed an early lead on its way to a 6-5 victory over North Catholic at home on Wednesday. The Wolverines scored three runs in the bottom of the first frame, aided by an RBI double by senior Ricky Pitrelli and a passed ball by North Catholic catcher in the frame. Pine Valley Ride For Hope

The Pine Valley Ride for Hope will be hosting its 6th annual event this year on Saturday, June 22, rain or shine. If there happens to be rain, there will be an alternative route, that is shorter, taken. This year, it will be hosted by the New Castle Harley Davidson dealership located on 4655 US 422. Primary Election Voting Information

There are two locations available to be used for voting in the Primary Elections for Franklin Township. Voting will be on Tuesday, May 21 from 7:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M. Little Miss Firecracker Pageant

    Applications for this year’s Little Miss Firecracker pageant are open! This pageant, however, has only twenty spots for contestants to fill and the festival will only accept the first twenty applications that are filled out in full. This pageant is open to any girl age 5-7 living within a 15-mile radius of Ellwood City. Contestants must have a business sponsorship of $25, all businesses that sponsor will be recognized.
