PHOTOS: Late Rally Spoils Softball Senior Night

After trailing for much of the game, a four-run rally by Ellwood City was later outdone by a 5-run final frame by Neshannock leading to a 10-7 road victory for the Lancers at Stiefel Park on Wednesday. The Wolverines rallied in the fifth inning and laid claim to a two-run cushion entering the seventh inning, but Neshannock plated two runs to tie the game and later in the inning saw Jesse Fehrs double home the go-ahead run. Panthers Take Third Consecutive WPIAL Track & Field Championship

“Trip, Trip, Triple!” For local sports fans, it is the call of legendary Pirates broadcaster Greg Brown, but on Monday, it could be used as a rally cry for the Riverside Panthers boys track team as they collected their third consecutive WPIAL Class-AA Championship – a three-peat. The team beat Shenango, 98-52, South Park, 107-43, and Waynesburg, 90-60 at Peters Township High School on Monday, earning uncontested points in their twelve event wins. Riverside’s promenade is scheduled for 6:30 pm on Friday, May 10. Students will arrive at the high school cafeteria by 5:30, where formal photos can be taken. Promenade in the gym begins at 6:20, where seating is free. At 6:30, the promenade will begin in the high school auditorium, where seats are $5.00. The theme for prom is Midnight in Manhattan. Perry Township Annual Clean-Up Day

On May 11 Perry Township will be holding their Annual Clean-Up Day. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 12:00 p.m. There will be a $10.00 fee for each load whether it’s pick-up or automobile. For any load larger than a pick-up or automobile, a fee of $50.00 per load will be charged. There will be two collection sites on at the parking lots of the Perry Township Municipal Building and the Wurtemburg Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department. Kids Read Now Comes To North Side Primary

On Thursday, May 16 from 6-7pm, North Side Primary is hosting Kids Read Now Family Reading Night. Kids Read Now is a nationwide organization that pairs with school districts to keep reading a priority, even throughout the summer months. The goal is to close the achievement gap and eliminate the summer reading slide that occurs during the summer break. Kids Read Now does this by providing students the ability to receive up to nine new, free books from a popular wish list over the course of the summer. Riverside Boys Track & Field Advance to WPIAL Championships

Two-time defending WPIAL champion Riverside boys track & field team advanced to the WPIAL championships this week after semifinal meet victory on Tuesday. The Riverside boys will go for their third title in a row and will attempt to knock off Class AA challengers Shenango, South Park and Waynesburg.  Last year the Panthers defeated Mohawk, South Park, and Freedom to claim its championship. Franklin Township Clean-Up Day Announced

Franklin Township residents are invited to participate and clean up a yard, home, or garage with a township clean-up day planned for Saturday, May 4, 2019. The event will begin at 8:00am and last until 2:00pm for township residents.  Residents can drop off trash at the Franklin Township Building located on Route 288 in Fombell. Calvin Presbyterian Church Set To Host Rummage And Bake Sale

On Friday, May 3 and Saturday, May 4, Calvin Presbyterian Church will be hosting a rummage and bake sale. Riverside Superintendent Set To Step Down

Riverside’s current superintendent, Dr. Dave Anney, will be serving his last day on June 28th. This announcement was made during Riverside’s school board meeting on Monday, April 15. “The best part of being an administrator is when you have the chance to help someone in some way and then you eventually see them turn into productive and responsible adults,” said Dr. Anney.
