POLICE REPORTS: Several Traffic Stops Lead To Various Violations; Reckless Driving; Assault

According to a criminal complaint, on September 16 at approximately 9:00 am, in a routine patrol, Ellwood City policeman observed old Jason Santellan, 40, of Ellwood City, walking east on Crescent Avenue near Cherry Way. After confirming an active bench warrant for Mr. Santellan, police made contact with Santellan. Police asked Santellan if he had anything on him at which time Santellan provided police with a black box that he stated contained a ‘dab.’ Police took Santellan into custody on the warrant. A search later found one needle in Santellan’s back pocket. The suspect was arrested and charged with use/possession…

Lincoln High School will celebrate its 63rd annual Homecoming on Friday, September 27th, as the Wolverines face the Western Beaver Golden Beavers in varsity football action. A new Homecoming King will be crowned at a pep rally in school on Thursday, September 26th, and the Homecoming Queen will be crowned during halftime of the football game on Friday. Skyler Fox Claims MAC Boys Golf Championship

It has been a special two days for the Riverside Golf team. First, on Tuesday both Justin Hand and Skyler Fox individually qualified for the WPIAL Individual Finals. And more recently, on Wednesday at the Midwestern Athletic Conference (MAC) boys golf championship, Fox took home the Championship after carding a 4-under round of 68 at the aptly named Fox Run Golf Course in Beaver Falls. Fox’s Riverside teammate Justin Hand, the defending champion, finished tied for 4th Place with a round of 73. Riverside finished in 4th place in the team scoring. PHOTOS: Big Plays Doom Wolverines In Defeat; Riverside Panthers Victorious

Big plays doomed the Ellwood City, as a 94-yard first quarter touchdown run, kick-started what became on offensive onslaught by Neshannock as the visiting Lancers routed the Wolverines 44-0 Friday night. The Lancers used five scoring plays of over 30 yards, including two scoring runs of 55+ yards, to race away to victory. The Wolverines offense was held to under 100 yards of total offense.  The game was called with 4:08 left when a series of lightning strikes occurred in the distance. VIDEO: Local Teenager Recovering From Lung Disorder Due To Vaping

A local teenager, recently released from the hospital, how has become one of 22 patients within UPMC this year alone who had lung-related problems due to vaping. According to a regional news outlet KDKA video, the Riverside High School junior spent time in a handful of hospitals before ending up in UPMC Children’s Hospital for 10 days before being released on Tuesday. Ellwood City Lions Club Announces Completion Of Two Community Service Projects

The Ellwood City Lions Club proudly announces the community service project of the Lion Drinking Fountain installation at Sheeler Park and the purchase of the ADA accessible swing set for Rogers Park in Ellport. The Lion Drinking Fountain community service project was in progress for a few years.  The Lion drinking fountain that was located in front of the Ellwood City Municipal Building on Lawrence Avenue for decades, was refurbished and reused in Ellport.  In 2014, due to its age and deterioration, the Lion fountain was removed and placed in storage.  New “baby” Lion drinking fountain was purchased and installed…
