Ellwood City Library Activities For The Week Of October7

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 months of age, toddlers, and preschoolers. This is an interactive, family event and features stories, songs, games, finger plays and more. Registration is requested. Final Opportunity For Vietnam Veteran To Have Name Applied To Memorial

Any Vietnam Veteran from Lawrence County who served in Vietnam or during the Vietnam War Era that missed the opportunity to have his or her name applied to the Lawrence County Vietnam Veterans Memorial can now do so by mailing a copy of a DD214 to the Lawrence County Vietnam Veterans Committee. Route 288 Bridge Replacement Project Progress

With many focused on the pending status and re-opening of the Koppel Bridge, another local bridge replacement is taking place in Wayne Township and will have forthcoming lane restrictions and brief detour later this month. According to PennDOT Press Officer Steve Cowan, the ongoing replacement project will tentatively have single-lane alternating traffic controlled by a temporary signal that will occur from October 14 through October 25.  Full closure for paving work will result in a detour that will occur from Friday, October 25 through Monday morning, October 28. “Once the weekend closure is over, eastbound traffic from Wampum to Ellwood…

Wayne Township Fall Cleanup Scheduled For October 12

Wayne Township will be conducting an annual fall clean up Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 8:00am until noon. A proof of residency will be required to participate.  There is a $10.00 charge per pickup truckload. The drop off location is the Wayne Township Building, located at 1418 Wampum Road, Ellwood City, PA 16117 Information for new residents or new participants to this service for taxpayers: A resident may fill a pickup truck with unwanted items (see exceptions below) and drive to the township building and follow instructions. Women of Faith International To Hold Their 2nd Annual Dinner/Outreach

The Women of Faith International, Inc. will be holding their 2nd annual dinner/outreach program this year. After a successful free Christmas dinner last year the group has planned this year’s dinner for December 25, 2019 beginning at 11:00 am. The event is scheduled to be held at First United Methodist Church, 416 Crescent Avenue, in Ellwood City and will held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Ellwood City Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual fall festival and car cruise event on Saturday in downtown Ellwood City. There was plenty of food, vendors, family activities, and local entertainment for the masses who attended. Hours are 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Friday; and 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Monday will also feature a bake sale. The Wolverines were wiped out 19-0 by visiting Western Beaver on Friday night as part of the Ellwood City homecoming festivities. Saylee Grinnen was crowned 2019 Homecoming Queen at halftime. Skyler Fox & Justin Hand Both Qualifty For PIAA Golf Finals

A special congratulations go out to Riverside student-athletes Skyler Fox and Justin Hand for both qualifying for the PIAA Western Regional golf finals. In a bid to become the first four-time WPIAL boys golf champion, Skyler Fox finished in second place on Thursday, after firing a round of 71, one off of the lead. Sewickley Academy senior J.F.
