Shirts Now Available For ‘Pink Out’ Challenge

T-shirts are available at Ellwood City, Riverside, Beaver Falls, and Shenango schools and the non-profit Club Hope Foundation for a challenge to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. “The Pink Out Challenge this year is between Ellwood City, Riverside, Shenango and Beaver Falls,” said Cara Atkinson, found of Club Hope Foundation. VIDEO: Koppel Bridge Construction Progress

Construction crews are currently going through the demolition process of the former Koppel Bridge, removing the concrete deck and barrier, as part of the ongoing Koppel Bridge project that has forced the closure of the former Koppel Bridge, according to a PennDOT project manager this week. When reached for comment, a PennDOT project manager advised, “at this point, all is going very well with the project.” In addition to the demolition process, a retaining wall is being built for the roadways leading the new bridge. POLICE: Fraudulent $100 Bill Leads To Arrest

A New Castle man was arrested last month after attempted to pass a fraudulent $100 bill at a local gas station. Jaycob Heasley, 18, of New Castle, was arrested on charges of theft by deception, driving under the influence, and driving the wrong way, after police pursued the suspect and conducted a traffic stop shortly after the fraudulent bill was presented in an attempt to purchase a bag of Skittles at Uni-Mart just after midnight on August 16, 2019. Boariu Collects Hole-In-One At DelMar Golf Course

Broc Boariu, 19, of Ellwood City, hit a hole-in-one Sunday at Delmar Golf Course.  This particular hole-in-one was rare in so much it was collected on a Par 4 – the 325-yard, Hole 6 at the course. “I didn’t see it go in so I was looking for it for around 10-15 minutes,” said Boariu. “We checked the hole and it was there.” Boariu, who was playing in a foursome with Sam Barry Jr., Gino Bellissimo, and Chad Reed, hit driver from the tee box. “That was my first hole in one and the closest I’ve ever come was probably…

Mayor Court Presents Commendation to Celli

Mayor Anthony Court was honored to present a Commendation to councilman George Celli this week. Celli has served as president of the National Wolves Club from 2016 – 2019. During his tenure, the Wolves Clubs were responsible for $750,000 dollars in scholarships to local worthy students. “As a community, we are proud of his accomplishments!” said Court in a statement. High School Football Season Passes Now On Sale

Football season passes for our two great, local high school football teams are now on sale! For Ellwood City, tickets are on sale in the main office at Lincoln High School. (six homes games) Adult $20.00, Student $5.00, Super Fan student passes are $10.00 this pass will get the student into all athletic events for this school year. Senior citizen passes are also available in the main office. For Riverside, all season tickets are sold at the gate the night of the first game. PHOTOS: Annual Lincoln High School Pie Festival

With the chance of inclement weather in the forecast Thursday evening, the annual Lincoln High School Pie Festival was moved indoors to the Lincoln High School gymnasium.  The move did not impact the band who entertained those in attendance with tunes to help roll out the 2019-20 school year while fall sports teams were introduced. The celebration and introductions were coupled with hundreds of custom pies baked and donated by Debbie’s Delicious Desserts.  All proceeds benefited the Lincoln High School Marching Blue Band.


Wayne Township Consolidated School Reunion Planned

A Wayne Township Consolidated School Reunion has been planned and is set to take place on Saturday, September 21, 2019. The reunion event will be held at the Slippery Rock Presbyterian Church, located at 258 Slippery Rock Drive, Ellwood City, PA 16117 and is scheduled to take place from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
