Ellwood City Playground Program To Resume

Despite a temporary setback last week with a temporary suspension, the Ellwood City Playground Program is resuming. According to information made available by borough, the Playground Program at Ewing Park will resume Tuesday June 23rd at the regularly scheduled times. The program was temporarily suspended after it was notified an individual that participates in the program on a daily basis was exposed to an individual who has tested positive for Covid-19. Ellwood City Library Activities for the week of June 22

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. NOTE The Library will be doing curbside pickup starting this week. Please call us with the book(s), authors, genre or recommended material you would like to check out and our staff will see that it is in alphabetical order in the lobby for you. Limitations for patrons are 10 books and three, either books on CD or DVD’s, per person. All patrons must wear a mask when entering the lobby and wait until there are less than three people…

NOTICE: Ellwood City School Board Vacancy

Effective June 9, 2020, a vacancy exists on the Board of School Directors of the Ellwood City Area School District.  The Board of School Directors intend to appoint the new director to fill the current vacancy at General Purpose Board Meeting to be conducted in July. In accordance with School Laws of Pennsylvania, the remaining members of the Board intend to fill the vacancy at a public meeting within thirty (30) days. POLICE REPORTS: Criminal Complaints

The following are police criminal complaints filed at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Lawrence County office of Honorable Jerry G. Cartwright. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CALL On Sunday, June 7, at approximately 3:15 p.m, police were responding to a PFA Violation. When police arrived at the Porterville Road residence in Perry Township, they were met with the victim and her child. The victim recalled to police that her and her ex-boyfriend Steven Ramsey, 34 of Ellwood City, had gotten into a verbal argument about their relationship when, according to the complaint, Ramsey made it physical. NOTICE: Franklin Township News & Updates

Starting in July, the Franklin Township Building will be reopening to the public according to information made available by the township on Thursday. According to the township, all Supervisor’s meetings for July and August will be held at the Frisco Firehall. However, the township decided that the Township Cleanup Day and National Night Out has been cancelled for 2020. Playground Program Temporarily Suspended

According to a social media post by the organizers Wednesday night, the Ellwood City Playground Program has been temporarily suspended. According to the post: “Effective Thursday June 18th, the Playground Program at Ewing Park is temporarily suspended. Ellwood City Mayor Anthony Court awarded the 3rd of 6 Beautification Awards to Arduino and Carol Nocera of Petain Street. They were presented with a yard sign and a dinner gift certificate as a prize. “The Nocera’s put a lot of  time and effort in their property and it shows in their beautiful landscape.,” said Mayor Court. “Congratulations to the Nocera’s!” There will be tree more awards issued this season which Mayor Court will announce soon. Library Activities For The Week of June 15

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities. Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. NOTE The Library will be taking return books in specially marked bin in the Library parking lot Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Bins are for Library books and Inter-library Loan books only. Community Garden Poster Contest

The Department of Public Works is holding a Poster Contest for children ages 4 and 12. “The community garden is a fantastic project for Ellwood City! I am elated to see our community work together for the greater good,” said Rhiannon Schnell, the secretary of  Public Works and Code Enforcement.
