ELLWOOD WOMAN CHARGED IN CAPITOL RIOTS: Julia Jeanette Sizer of Ellwood City surrendered Thursday morning on multiple charges as a result of her attendance at the January Capitol riots. According to court documents, Sizer entered the Capitol eight minutes after the “original surge” forced their way through the door and stayed in the Senate Press Gallery foyer for less than three minutes before leaving the building. Ellwood City Golf Off To Fast Start, Now 4-0 After Defeating Riverside

The Ellwood City boys golf team is off to a fast start this year, improving their season record to an impressive 4-0 after its 213-219 victory on the road Tuesday afternoon over cross town rival Riverside. Senior Milo Sesti continued his torrid pace, posting an 3-under round of 33 on Tuesday. Sesti had also fired two sub-40 rounds last week to power the Wolverines to victories over Freedom and Mohawk. After a year hiatus due to COVID-19, the annual Lincoln High School Pie Festival and fall sport festivities returned to Helling Stadium Friday evening. The marching band performed their 2021 pre-game and halftime shows and all fall sports teams were introduced. The annual Riverside community event, Panther Night, kicked off back to school season Thursday evening at Riverside Memorial Stadium. The free event offered attendees the opportunity to be introduced to fall sports teams, athletes, and enjoy fundraising booths throughout the stadium grounds.  Many booths offered food items or a raffle ticket to help support their respective organization or group. Historical Society Fund Drive – A Success!

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society has had fund drives since the early days of the formation of the Society, 33 years ago, with the purpose of the Society to collect, protect and preserve the artifacts of the history of our town and its surrounding area. “The annual fund drive was becoming less effective in raising money to help cover our operating budget, says fund drive chairman Andrew Kindle. “More money was coming in toward dues payments then donations.” The Ways and Means committee at the monthly meeting in June sat down to discuss the problem of low donations. T&M Hardware and Rental was one of 14 retailers honored with a Beacon Award during the Beacon Awards banquet held last week in Marco Island, Florida.
