Ellwood City is happy to introduce the Ellwood City Military Banners Program for its third year to the Veterans who are residents of the Ellwood City Area or Lincoln High School graduates. Mayor Court’s Beautification Awards Set To Begin

Ready, Set, Spring! Mayor Anthony J. Court will once again be doing beautification awards for Ellwood City. This is the 14th year of this successful program. There will be six winners and each will be awarded a gift certificate from a local restaurant and yard sign to display. Bo Fornataro shined at the plate Tuesday, collected four hits and five RBIs in the Panthers 11-1 rout of Quaker Valley. Fornataro singled in the first, doubled in the second, singled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth. Lawrence County Broadband Initiative Announces Events

NEW CASTLE – Today, the Lawrence County Commissioners announced two public events as a part of their Link Up Lawrence initiative, a project that kicked off last month and is assessing the quality and availability of broadband internet in the County. The Commissioners are hosting an open house on May 11 and a virtual workshop on May 18 to share information about the project and gain insight into internet experiences residents, businesses, and organizations. EC Baseball, Softball Each Rebound With Victories

Both Ellwood City baseball and softball teams each rebounded from recent losses last week with victories over the weekend. The Lady Wolverines lost a heartbreaking 2-1 extra innings affair to its rival Riverside on Thursday, but rebounded to hand section foe Hopewell its first section loss on Friday. Sturgeon Captures 1st Place In High Jump At ‘Rock Relays’ On Saturday

Sophomore Delaney Sturgeon captured a 1st place finish in the Girls High Jump at the Slippery Rock University “Rock Relays” on Saturday. The high school invitational took place at the William Lennox Track at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium with teams from more than 40 high schools across the region participating. Sturgeon earned the top podium spot with a final jump of 5’0″ that bested six other athletes who all finished tied at 4’10”. Just two days after two Panther pitches twirled a two-hit shutout on Senior Day again Union, Christian Lucarelli and Ronnie Harper combined to toss a complete game no-hitter on Thursday. The unbeaten Panthers easily dismissed the visiting Hopewell Vikings 8-0 behind the stellar pitching performances. The Lady Panthers rallied late to tie things up in the seventh and won it in the eighth on a clutch two out, two strike single by Aliya Ottaviani. Senior Samantha Rosenberger swatted a solo home run at the plate and struck out 15 Freedom Bulldogs on the mound Wednesday as the Lady Panthers defeated Freedom 8-4. Riverside raced out to an 8-0 advantage before the host Bulldogs gathered four runs in the bottom half of the sixth inning.
