POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

DISORDERLY CONDUCT:
David Carter, 43, of Ellwood City is charged with Disorderly Conduct, Terroristic Threats, and Public Drunkenness after an incident on June 4th. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 6:16 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on Franklin Avenue for a report of a male making threats. Upon arrival, police spoke with one of the victims who related a male, later identified as Carter, came across the street and started making threats. Police spoke with Carter who appear under the influence of alcohol and unable to stand straight. Police advised Carter to stay inside for the remainder of the night, but three hours later received another call from the same victim relating that Carter came out to yell across the street that he was going to burn their house down.  Police responded to the scene and placed Carter under arrest and transported to ECPD and placed in a cell for holding.

THEFT:
Amanda Crowl, 38, of Ellwood City, is charged with Theft after an incident on May 28th. According to a criminal complaint, and at approximately 10:31 a.m., police were dispatched to Center Church Road, Slippery Rock Township, for a reported theft of a cell phone. Upon arrival, interviews were conducted whereas the victim, Crowl’s mother, related that Crowl visited her residence earlier in the morning and that upon leaving realized that Crowl took her cell phone. The victim related she believes Crowl stole the phone in an effort to sell it for money to buy drugs. Upon further investigation it was determined that Crowl stole a red iPhone 14 belonging to the victim.



THEFT:
On June 7th at approximately 7:00 a.m., PA State Police were dispatched to the report of a hit-and-run accident in the area of Kay Street and Church Street, Wampum. On scene it was found that an unknown vehicle had sideswiped the victim’s car while it was unoccupied and legally parked near a residence on Church Street. The crash caused damage to the victim’s driver door and front quarter panel. The unknown vehicle then drove away. According to the police report, and through investigation, the hit-and-run vehicle was located. An interview of the vehicle’s owner led to the discovery that the vehicle – a 2018 Black Chrysler – had been stolen from his residence between the hours of 2:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. on June 7th. An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact PA State Police New Castle and reference PA 2023-760395.

FIREARM NOT TO POSSESS:
On June 2nd at approximately 5:32 p.m., PA State Police responded to an area near the Moose’s Lodge in Wayne Township, Lawrence County. According to the report, and upon police arrival, two males were detained and in the custody of Ellwood City PD and New Castle PSP took the two males into custody for being Felon’s not to possess. Lawrence County District Attorney’s office will determine if charges will be filed.

DUI:
Jeremy Arlet, 46, of Ellwood City is charged with DUI after a traffic stop in April 2023. According to a criminal complaint, police while on patrol April 16th observed a van traveling on Fountain Avenue at a high rate of speed and activated emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop. Upon initial approach, the driver identifeid as Arlet appeared overly sweaty and nervous with bloodshot eyes. Police asked Arlet to exit the vehicle and with consent to search found an empty tie off with white powder residue. Police administered a field sobriety test for which Arlet failed and he was taken into custody and transported to a nearby hospital for a blood draw.

CARELESS DRIVING:
According to a public information release report, a one vehicle crash occurred on June 3rd at approximatley 4:25 a.m., on Portersville Road (RT-488) whereas a 2020 Ford Ranger driven by Timothy Myers, 41, of Ellwood City was driving west and the operator fell asleep and drove off the north side of the roadway. According to the report the vehicle struck a guide rail and then a tree on the north side of the roadway. Myers suffered suspected minor injuries and the vehicle was disabled as a result of the crash. Myers has been cited for Careless Driving.
