Do you remember the neighborhood “Mom and Pop” stores in Ellwood City? Have you any stories, experiences or tales of a local “Mom and Pop” stores in Ellwood City Area? Do you remember paying the bill on paydays, selling pop bottles there for two cents, meeting the neighbors, buying penny candy, sampling the produce, and maybe, even forgetting to pay for something. 22nd Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt

Ellwood Area Egg Hunt Committee will be holding their 22nd Annual Community Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 8, in Ewing Park for all area children ages nine and under. Four and under hunts start at 11 and run till the end of the events, the five to nine year old hunts start at 1:30p.m. There will be over 7,000 Easter Eggs handed out. Tyler Alberts, a senior at Lincoln High School placed in the PIAA. Alberts has had an exciting year for wrestling, including signing his letter of intent to wrestle for the next four years proceeding a scholarship offered at Wheeling Jesuit University. Ellwood City Area Public Library Activities for Week of March 13, 2017

Activities taking place at the Ellwood City Area Public Library include the following: Monday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m. – Classics Book Discussion Group for Adults. The group will discuss the book, “Intruder in the Dust,” by William Faulkner. New members are welcome, so call the library at 724-758-6458 for more information. The regular monthly membership meeting of the Ellwood City Area Historical Society will meet 6:30 p.m., Monday March 13 at the History Center, 310 fifth Street, Ellwood City. Man Charged With Disarming Officer

According to the police report filed March 5, Perry Russel Malcom, 34, of Beaver Falls, will be facing a felony charge of disarming law enforcement, a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest, and an infraction charge of disorderly conduct after an incident involving a parking ticket escalated. At approximately 5:51 p.m. an officer was requested to respond to the rear of the Ellwood City Police Department to speak with Malcom regarding a parking ticket he received earlier in the day. Malcom questioned the ticket and the responding officer advised why he had gotten the ticket, prompting Malcom to become hostile. The…
