POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Franklin Cesare-Hesse, 33, of Ellwood City, is charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, and Harassment after an incident on February 20th. According to the criminal complain, and at approximately 4:24 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence on Portersville Road, Perry Township, for a report of an individual who had been shot with a pellet gun. Police learned Cesare-Hesse shot someone over an argument and left the scene. McClure Captures District 7 AA Sectional Championship

Wolverine freshman wrestler Gavin McClure earned a 1st place finish in his 133-pound weight class at the 2023 WPIAL AA Eastern Sectionals held at Greensburg Salem High School this past Saturday. With the performance McClure qualifies for the WPIAL Class-2A Wrestling Individual Championships to be held on February 24-25 at Chartiers Valley High School. The Ellwood City Boys Basketball was downed by the Deer Lakes Lancers 76-57 Monday evening in the opening round of the WPIAL Class-3A Playoffs. The Riverside Boys Swimming Team has collected their fifth consecutive section championship and will next turn its focus to the WPIAL Swimming Championships scheduled for March 2-3 at the Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. Municipal Women’s Club Hosts New K9 Officer During January Meeting

The Ellwood City Municipal Women’s Club hosted the newest Ellwood City K9 Officer “Nico” as part of its January meeting last month. The K9 and his handler Officer Rich Kruger put together a wonderful demonstration of Nico’s skills for the members in attendance. The program was hosted by membership chairman Joanne Lowrie. Rotary Club of Ellwood City Delivers Water to East Palestine

The Rotary Club of Ellwood City delivered three pallets of bottled water on Friday to East Palestine, Ohio. The club is now sponsoring a community-wide initiative in conjunction with Tomon Funeral Home and Trinity Lutheran Church to collect other items the residents need. Items needed include bottled water, paper towels, white vinegar, bleach-free cleaning products, Dawn dish soap, laundry detergent, rolls of quarters, personal care items, dog and cat food.
