Bernstine Announces Free Shredding Event for Constituents in the 8th Legislative District

HARRISBURG – In an effort to bring greater awareness to identity theft crime, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Butler/Lawrence) will host a Shredding Event on Saturday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department.

The purpose of this event is to give residents of the 8th Legislative a chance to safeguard themselves against identity theft by having their personal documents securely destroyed.

“Protecting personal information online or in person is of the utmost importance,” said Bernstine. “By allowing residents free use of an industrial-sized shredding truck, they can be assured that old documents do not fall into the wrong hands. I encourage residents to take advantage of this service.”

Common types of unwanted items that should be shredded include credit card statements or applications, bank statements, canceled checks, old income tax information, insurance and medical records, and other materials with identifying personal information like Social Security, credit card or bank account numbers.

Phonebooks, newspapers and bound books cannot be accepted. No businesses, please.

The Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department is located at 5153 Ellwood Road in Ellwood City.

For more information contact Bernstine’s district at 724-752-2120 or visit his website at www.RepBernstine.com.
