POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: On February 26th at approximately 1:17 a.m., PA State Police investigated a report of criminal mischief near a residence on Heinz Camp Road, Wayne Township. According to the report, a 31-year-old female victim from Ellwood City related that she was contacted by a female friend requesting a ride home due to an ongoing argument with her boyfriend. When the victim arrived on scene, the vehicle she was operating was punched by Brandon Holsinger, 25, of Ellwood City, causing a large dent to the front passenger door of a 2012 Mazda. Two Ellwood City wrestlers have qualified for upcoming wrestling tournaments this weekend. Lawrence County Added To Pennsylvania’s Spotted Lanternfly Quarantine

Harrisburg, PA – Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding this week announced that six counties have been added to Pennsylvania’s spotted lanternfly quarantine zone ahead of the 2023 spring hatch. With this addition, the quarantine for this invasive pest now includes 51 counties. “Spotted lanternfly is an invasive pest that is disruptive and damaging to our agriculture commodities and a nuisance pest for all Pennsylvanians,” said Redding. “Through collective and intentional efforts, including instituting quarantine zones, we continue to slow the spread of this insect, and I call on all Pennsylvanians to assist. Ellwood City Lions Club Hosting Night At The Races

The Ellwood City Lions Club is having a Night At The Races to raise funds for its 2023 campaign. The campaign provides donations and community services throughout the Ellwood City area. The Night At The Races fundraiser will be at the Wayne Township Fire Hall on Saturday, March 25, 2023.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and races will begin at 7:00 p.m. The club is seeking help from the community to help raise funds for the benefit. Health Resource Center Now Open To Assist Residents With Health Concerns Following Dertailment

HARRISBURG – Residents of Beaver and Lawrence counties who have health concerns following the recent train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio can now receive assistance at the Health Resource Center in Darlington Township, Beaver County, Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47) and Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) said today. The center is operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Ellwood City Earth Day Event Committee Seeks Vendors

The annual Lawrence County Earth Day Celebration will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at Ewing Park, Ellwood City from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. The planning committee is seeking vendors to sell environmentally friendly products. Vendor products from previous years include goats milk soaps, rug rags, reusable tupperware, wood crafts, beeswax lotion bars, soaps, candles, plants, jams, herbs, goats milk lotion, and skincare products. PA AMERICAN WATER: No Impact to Drinking Water from East Palestine Train Derailment

Pennsylvania American Water has provided an updated message to its customers regarding the East Palestine train derailment. “Despite the fact that there is no geographic connection of our water sources to the impacted area, we conducted testing following the incident and had no detection of compounds of concern,” says Brent Robinson; Manager, Government and Regulatory Affairs, in a statement. The Red Barn Players have announced their 2023 season scheduled of shows. The theater performs a show in the months of June, July, August, and September and season tickets are available.
