Ellwood City Cross Country Remains Undefeated, EC Girls Tennis Beats Riverside; Panther Soccer Teams Victorious

The Ellwood City Boys Cross Country team remains undefeated after its victory at Southside Beaver on Tuesday. The boys defeated opponents Shenango (21-26), Southside Beaver (15-50), and Beaver Falls (15-50).  Top runners for the Wolverines were Anthony Spadafore (2nd place, 19:31), Joel Brooks (4th place, 19:46), Colton Crizer (5th place, 20:04), Nick Wise (6th place, 20:19), and Ian Stoneking (8th place, 21:22). “All the boys ran a great race,” said head coach Mark Hall. ROUND-UP: Clean Sweep For Ellwood City Sports On Thursday

Ellwood City posted a clean sweep Thursday afternoon with girls tennis, co-ed golf, and volleyball all collecting victories. The Ellwood City Girls Tennis Team defeated Beaver Falls 5-0 to even their record to 1-1 on the season.  Maddy McCommons (6-1, 6-0) and Rylea Heitzenrater (6-0, 6-0) collected singles victories. Olivia Andrew and Savannah Holsinger (6-0, 6-0) posted a victory in doubles. Two forfeits aided the Wolverines victory. Ellwood City Tennis Set To Host Mini-Clinic

Ellwood City Tennis will be conducting a tennis clinic for any boy or girl interested in learning the basics of tennis. The tennis clinic will be held on June 28th, 29th, and 30th, 2021 at the Ewing Park Courts from 10:00 a.m to 11:15 a.m. Any child ages 5-12 is eligible to sign up and participate. Each participant will receive a t-shirt. Riverside Boys Tennis Defeats Ellwood City

The Riverside Boys Tennis team collected a 4-1 victory in tennis action Monday afternoon at Riverside High School. Ethan Hughes (6-3, 6-0) collected straight set victory in singles while Payne Hoover & Kaysen Conver (6-2, 6-3) and Avery Wolf & Liam Gallagher (6-3, 6-4) collected straight set victories to pace Riverside. The Ellwood City Girls Varsity tennis team came away with a 4-1 victory over rival Riverside on Monday. The visiting Wolverines used strong efforts by Maddy McCommons in singles play and Cassidy Navolio and Anna Williams in doubles to earn the victory. In a strong effort by all local high school clubs, the Ellwood City girls tennis, boys golf, and girls volleyball teams were all victorious on Monday in their respective matches. For the girls tennis squad, Molly and Maddy McCommons collected straight set victories in singles play to lead the victors over Neshannock at Ewing Park Tennis Courts. Ellwood City boys golf team defeated Neshannock 220-225 on Tuesday at Delmar Golf Course while the Ellwood City girls tennis team defeated Ambridge at the Ewing Park tennis courts. Wolverines Tennis Defeats Beaver Falls

Ellwood City earned a 4-1 team victory during Mondays boy’s tennis match between Ellwood City and Beaver Falls. Leading the Wolverine singles was Alex Scott who won two clean 6-0 sets against his Beaver Falls opponent. Ellwood’s Max Kuffer also won his singles match (6-1, 6-2), which helped lead the Wolverines to the 4-1 team victory. Alex Scott led the Wolverines tennis team with straight-set victory (6-4, 6-1) in his singles match versus Beaver Area on Tuesday at Ewing Park. The boys team, however, fell to the Bobcats 4-1 in team play. The Lincoln High School Boy’s Varsity Tennis team moved within one match of a .500 section record yesterday, improving their section record to 3-4 with a hard-fought win over Central Valley. Trey Houk won at second singles, and the first singles team of Corey Hobbs and Shane Reisinger maintained their undefeated section status at first doubles, both with straight set wins.
