In a strong effort by all local high school clubs, the Ellwood City girls tennis, boys golf, and girls volleyball teams were all victorious on Monday in their respective matches.
For the girls tennis squad, Molly and Maddy McCommons collected straight set victories in singles play to lead the victors over Neshannock at Ewing Park Tennis Courts. Nichole Bartolomeo rallied back from dropping her first set to gain her singles victory (6-7, 7-6, 6-0). Alex Johnston & Rylea Heitzenrater collected a double victory (6-3, 6-4). After the 4-1 match victory, the girls tennis team record is now 2-1 overall and will next travel cross town to play rival Riverside on September, 21 at 3:30 p.m.
The boys golf team cruised to a 212-277 over Union on Monday afternoon at Sylvan Heights Golf Course. Milo Sesti led the Wolverines with a round of 38 while Joey Hudson (42), Zac Polojac (43), Ryan Hampton (44), and Geoffrey Boker (45) rounded out the scoring for Ellwood City. The Wolverines boy golf team is now 4-2 overall and will next host Mohawk on September 17th at 3:15 p.m. at Delmar Golf Course.
Rounding out the local action on Monday, the Ellwood City Girls Volleyball team collected a victory over Laurel. The Wolverines girls won in straight sets, 25-14, 27-25, and 25-20.
