Question Concerning Vouchers Leads to Argument Among Council Members [Updated 10:15]

A question regarding a bill on the list of pre-paid vouchers led to an argument at Monday’s council meeting. Before voting on the list of pre-paid vouchers, council member Judi Dici asked if two telephone bills, both labeled to the same police officer and in the amount of $17.85, were accidental duplicates. Borough Manager Bob Villella responded that he would look into the matter. The Lady Wolverines put up a valiant effort Thursday evening but Shaler scored four runs in the top of the seventh to come away with a 10-3 victory. Ann A. Kovach, 101, of Ellwood City passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 in the Northview Estates. Ann was born on July 17, 1914 in Ellwood City to the late Pavel and Constance Crych Voitowich. She is a member of the Holy Redeemer Parish. A home maker, Ann was a devoted and supportive wife to her husband Martin. Video: Ketterer Ends Varsity Career with 1005 Points

Karrington Ketterer broke the 1000 point mark in her final game of varsity basketball on Monday against Montour. Ketterer has played at the varsity level since her freshmen year. She scored 156 points in 9th grade, 265 in 10th, 284 in 11th and 300 this year. The Ellwood City Lady Wolverines lost Monday’s away game 57-42. They end the season 9-13 overall and 6-8 in their conference. Although the team was hoping for a playoff run, they finished fifth in their Class AAA conference.
