Lincoln High School Top Eight and Graduating Class of 2018

Lincoln High School has 120 seniors graduating in the class of 2018. There are eight students who will graduate with high honors. The top eight students listed in alphabetical order: Michael J. Ace, son of Jennifer Ace, participated in the Carpenters Project and was a member of the gifted program, National Honor Society and drama club. Janey Swanik, 101

Janey Swanik, 101, formerly of Wampum passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Wyngate Senior Living in Weirton, West Virginia. She was born on June 15, 1916 in Clarksburg, WV. She was one of twelve children born to her Spanish immigrant parents, Jesus and Dolores Artinez Gonzalez The family moved to Langeloth, PA when Janey was a child and she lived there until her marriage to Michael Swanik on July 29, 1937. She was a 1935 graduate of Burgettstown High School. Janey and Mike moved to Wampum in 1946 when Michael purchased the Sno-Top Mushroom Farm. Janey was a member…

Baseball Recap: Boehm Strikes Out 10 In Panthers Victory, Wolverines Comeback Late For Win

Boehm Victorious In Pitcher’s Duel For Riverside Both teams were strong on the mound Friday, but the Riverside Panthers defeated South Side 3-1 behind the arm of Gunnar Boehm. Boehm allowed just four hits to South Side and earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Riverside (7-1 overall). He lasted seven innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out ten and walking one. Riverside had ten hits in the game and never trailed. 2-Time Defending Champ Riverside Earns Preseason Top Ranking

Your two-time defending WPIAL Champion Riverside Panthers are slotted as preseason #1 for Class-3A, Section 2 according to an WPIAL baseball social media account.  Following the Panthers in the section ranking is Ellwood City in third place. Riverside’s Kralic Ties WPIAL Record, Takes 1st Place in 100-yard Butterfly

Riverside senior Dean Kralic tied a WPIAL record Thursday at the Class 2A Swimming Championships at the University of Pittsburgh.  In doing so, Kralic took first place in the 100-yard  butterfly in Class-AA. Kralic won the event with a time of 50.29 seconds and joined several Riverside teammates who placed and advanced to PIAA Championships.  Panthers Josiah Shaffer, Dylan Griffith and Donnie Paracca each placed second in the 200 medley relay. An organization with 3.2 million members in 10 countries has selected Dr. Nick Neupauer, president of Butler County Community College, to receive its highest honor, one that recognizes his commitment to BC3’s academic honor society and resolve to foster student success and empowerment, a Phi Theta Kappa regional coordinator said. Bernstine, Local Mayors Issue Letter Encouraging Relocation of Businesses to 10th District

Ellwood City- Citing a recently passed storm water management tax as motivation, Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Beaver/Butler/Lawrence) today issued a letter to business owners in the City of New Castle inviting them to consider relocating to municipalities in the 10th Legislative District. Ellwood City Mayor Tony Court, Beaver Falls Mayor George Quay, New Brighton Mayor Tom Albanese and Slippery Rock Mayor J.D. Criminal Complaints: Several Pounds of Marijuana Seized During Traffic Stop

Several Pounds of Marijuana Seized According to the criminal complaint, after being stopped for a turn signal violation, Dwight Andre Campbell, 45, of Altoona, Pa., appeared to be extremely nervous – he was sweating excessively and his hands were visibly shaking. The officer detected a strong odor of marijuana from inside the vehicle. After searching the vehicle the officer located approximately five pounds of vacuum sealed marijuana in a box for home security cameras. Defense has always been a strong suit for the Quips of Aliquippa as once again it is in the 2017 campaign. Stiefel Park Batting Practice: Lady Wolverines Hit 2 Homers and Improve to 10-0

 Grove City entered Friday evening’s non section game with 11 home runs on the season. The Lady Wolverines won the home run battle and the game with a 9-5 victory.
