Lincoln High School graduate Breanna Reisinger is helping lead a Butler County Community College volleyball team that enters the second half of its 2022 regular season this week upholding the highest national ranking the program has had in its history. For a fourth consecutive year, the Riverside High School Swim Team has earned section championship bragging rights. Riverside Panther runner Ty Fluharty finished 2nd overall in the PIAA Class-A Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Hershey, PA. Ellwood City and Riverside Cross Country teams had a collective five runners qualify for PIAA State Championships as a result of their individual finishes at the WPIAL Championships held Thursday at California University of Pennsylvania. For Ellwood City, Colton Crizer and Joel Brooks earned qualifying times while Ty Fluherty qualified in the WPIAL Boys Championships. Mrs. Mary Lou (Rocco) Mercuri, 92, of Ellwood City passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Passavant Retirement Community in Zelienople. Molly McCommons was the top winner in the Lincoln High School Class of 1957 scholarship competition. She won the $5.000 scholarship and the $500 award for writing the best essay.
