Randy Lee Burns, 68

Randy Lee Burns, age 68, beloved husband, father, and pappy, departed planet earth on June 1, 2022 after a brief illness, to be reunited in heaven with his Father and brothers.

Randy was born on November 22, 1953 to the late Kenneth Burns Sr. and Helen McKinney Burns who survives. He graduated in the top 10 of his class from Lincoln High School in 1971, attended Penn State University, and graduated from Slippery Rock University with a degree in mathematics. He worked for many years in information technology for Mercy Health in Boardman, OH and had recently retired. He loved to hunt, visit his camp in Marienville, watch Pittsburgh sports, cook, work on cars, and ride his motorcycle. He enjoyed traveling to the beach and to Colorado with his family to visit his son. He loved to watch his grandson’s sporting events, religiously attending his games as well as spending time with him practicing.

He was married on April 4, 1987 to his high school sweetheart, Patricia “Patty” Tomon. Together they raised three children: Danielle Carosi of Pittsburgh, Nicole Carosi Robbins of Ellwood City, and Joel Carosi of Estes Park, CO. He is also survived by his beloved grandson Landon, who had Pappy Randy wrapped around his finger, and his adored grand-dog Rocky.

In addition to his mother, Randy also leaves behind a sister, Vicki (Dell) Streckeisen, mother-in-law, Doreen Tomon, brothers-in-law, Dan (Julie) Tomon, Kevin (Linda) Tomon, and Michael Tomon; sisters-in-law Kathy (Dom) Russo, Therese (Jim) Palagallo, and Peggy (the late Kenneth Jr.) Burns; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will all remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Burns Sr., brothers, Kenneth Jr. and Larry Burns, his father-in-law, Louis Tomon and all of his beloved dogs who are undoubtedly awaiting his arrival in Heaven.

Randy navigated life with a laid-back, chill demeanor. He was a simple man with a heart of gold, and will be missed dearly by the people who knew him most.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport.  Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 11:00AM with Rev. John Creekpaum.  Interment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
