Four runs batted in from Reagan Mittler helped lead Wolverines past Riverside in a 20-5 rout on Saturday. Mittler drove in runs on a single in the first and a double in the second. The Wolverines (3-2 overall) fired up the offense in the first inning, when Anna Ferrucci singled scoring the game’s first run.  Ellwood City scored in every inning thereafter including a 9-run outburst in the second frame. Gunnar Boehm’s five-RBI outburst sealed the deal in Riverside’s 11-1 mercy rule victory over Ellwood City on Friday afternoon at Dan Oliastro Field. Boehm showed timely hitting on Friday, driving in five runs on only two hits including the grand slam in the pivotal, 7-run 4th inning to lead Riverside. Boehm also doubled in a run in the sixth. Bats Blistered as Riverside Panthers Defeats Beaver Falls, 14-9 Both pitching staffs had their hands full on Tuesday in a high-scoring affair where the Riverside Lady Panthers bested Beaver Falls, 14-9. The Panthers (1-1 overall) opened up scoring with a six-run first inning and crept out to a 9-2 lead before the Tigers were able to respond. Beaver Falls scored four runs in the third inning. The Riverside Panthers easily dispatched New Brighton 11-1 on Monday afternoon at Dan Oliastro Field. Riverside (3-1 overall) got on the board in the first inning with some power as Austin Dambach smashed a 2-run home run to stake the Panthers to an early lead. A walk-off single propelled Wolverines to a decisive, dramatic victory over Avonworth, 20-19 on Friday afternoon. Wolverines trailed 19-18 in the bottom of the seventh inning after rallying from a double digit deficit when Reagan Mittler singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. The Riverside varsity baseball team came out on the victors end of a shutout on Thursday while the Wolverines took a shutout defeat on Thursday. The Panthers defeated Mohawk Area 8-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Riverside notched four runs in the sixth inning. Ellwood City Wolverines Can’t Catch Up To Armstrong

Ellwood City watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-4 loss to Armstrong on Saturday. Armstrong scored on a ground out by Caleb Harriger, a walk by Josh Hepler, an error, and a stolen base by Paul Cypher in a 5-run first inning. The Wolverines struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Armstrong, giving up 14 runs on 11 hits, with the defense surrendering four errors. Riverside Panthers varsity baseball battled to tie their ball game late, but failed to hold the tie score int he sixth inning, surrendering two runs in a 4-2 defeat to Knoch on Wednesday at Pullman Park in Butler.
