Talk about a high five! Senior Tyler Smiley went to the air and tossed five touchdown passes Friday Night as Ellwood City routed Riverside 48-14 on Senior Night. The quarterback connected with four different receivers on touchdown strikes with wideout DaiLonn Currie being the recipient of two. Ellwood City marched out early and collected four first half touchdowns to post a 26-0 halftime advantage. PHOTOS: Ellwood City Falls To Western Beaver On Homecoming

Unbeaten Western Beaver (7-0, 4-0 Section 2A-2) knocked off host Ellwood City 29-12 Friday night at Helling Stadium. Sydney Woodhead was crowned homecoming queen at halftime. Jackson Kerr was crowned Homecoming King at a pep rally on Thursday. Standout junior running back Wyatt Sparbanie went down with an injury in the first quarter but the visiting Golden Beavers leaned on two additional supplies of offensive in the conference victory. Lincoln Grad Covert BC3 Medalist, Top Seed In Championship That Begins Monday

(Salix, PA) Butler County Community College golfer Mitchell Covert fired a 72 on Friday and earned medalist honor as the Pioneers swept two opponents in advance of seeking their fifth consecutive postseason conference championship this week. Covert won by 2 strokes as an individual and BC3 by 2 strokes as a team against Westmoreland County Community College at the Windber Country Club, Salix. Covert, a Lincoln High graduate, edged Westmoreland’s Gunner Shoop, who had a 74. BC3 had a 304, Westmoreland a 306 and the Community College of Allegheny County a 353. PHOTOS: Riverside Beats Freedom 37-7 On Homecoming

Mason Holler rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns Friday night as Riverside beat Freedom 37-7 on homecoming. Isabella Hall was named Riverside Homecoming Queen at halftime. Wideout Hunter Garcia hauled in five receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown to spark the Panthers offense. Garcia opened up the scoring with a 2-yard touchdown run as part of his two-touchdown evening. Keller, Rozanski Wrap Up Two-Day Class 2A Golf Championships

Jordan Keller finished with a 2-day score of 169 (86-83, +26) to earn a 26th place finish in the 2025 WPIAL Class 2A Boys’ Individual Championships. The two day event wrapped up Tuesday at Valley Brook Country Club in McMurray, PA after opening at the Hill Crest Country Club in Lower Burrell last week. Lincoln High Grad Covert Shoots 82; BC3 Men’s Golf Team Now 5-2

Mitchell Covert, a graduate of Lincoln High School in Ellwood City, tied for fourth among the Pioneers’ lowest scores with an 82 to help BC3 defeat Westmoreland County Community College 311-321 and the Community College of Allegheny County 311-349 at Lake Arthur Golf Club near Butler on Friday. Dom Hogue hauled in two lengthy touchdown passes as part of an 8-catch, 169-yard receiving performance to help lead Ellwood City to a 28-14 victory over Freedom Friday night. Mason Holler scored four rushing touchdowns Friday night as Riverside ran its way to a 40-6 turnover riddled blowout over New Brighton The Panthers piled up 366 yards of total offense and Holler accounted for 110 yards in the rushing attack. Wolverines Boy Golf Team Wraps Up Impressive Regular Season, Turns Focus To Playoffs

The Ellwood City boys golf team wrapped up an impressive regular season with two victories this week and earned an outright section title for a second consecutive season. The Wolverines finish the season 15-1 (11-1 Class 2A, Section 5) and will turn their focus to individual and team playoffs next week. On Tuesday the boys recorded a team course record at Delmar Golf Course and bested Laurel 183-197. Jaxon Rozanski fired a team-low round of 35 for Ellwood City. Three Wolverine Golfers Qualify At Section Qualifiers Held At Sylvan Heights GC

Jaxon Rozanski posted an even round 72 Tuesday morning to lead a host of three Ellwood City golfers who qualified at the section qualifiers held at Sylvan Heights Golf Course. For his efforts, Rozanski finished 2nd overall in a field of 38 golfers. Joining Rozanski in qualifying were Jordan Keller (+1-73, 3rd Overall) and Gino Biondi (+8-80, T8) at the par-72 course.
