BOMBS AWAY: Keller Smacks Two Homeruns, Wolverines Defeat Beaver 12-2

Jordan Keller hit two home runs and drove in three as part of an offensive showcase as Ellwood City defeated Beaver 12-2 on Thursday at Sanders Field. Keller homered in the third and fifth innings. The Wolverines got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Keller tripled to center field, and Aaron Lake doubled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Lake Strikes Out 14, Wolverines Improve To 3-0

Aaron Lake struck out 14 batters and allowed only one hit across six scoreless innings as Ellwood City defeated Central Valley 3-0 on Tuesday to improve to 3-0 on the young regular season. Lake did not walk a batter and added an RBI single offensively for the Wolverines. Ellwood City collected three runs in the bottom of the first inning to spark the offense. Jordan Keller, Lake, and Mikael Cuevas each collected RBIs in the opening frame. Nate Kennedy tossed a scoreless inning of relief to earn the save for Ellwood City. Ellwood City Baseball Starts Season With Home Victory

Ellwood City took care of business in their home opener on Friday afternoon, coming out on top against the Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers by a score of 5-1. Nate Kennedy struck out 10 batters over 5.1 innings to earn the victory. Kennedy allowed only three hits and one run. Cameron Mills made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mills was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI. Riverside Swimming Makes Splash At WPIAL Championships, Relay Team Qualifies For PIAA

The Riverside swimming team was well represented at the 2026 AA WPIAL Swimming/Diving Championships held at Trees Pool on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh this past weekend. Four Panthers had successful showings highlighted by Peter Ruggeri and Nate Goff who each earned medals in their respective meets Ruggeri placed 6th place in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 56.38 while Goff placed 7th place in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.48. Josh Turner placed 9th (50.88) and Nick DePaoli placed 18th (51.83) in the 100 Yard Freestyle to round out notable individual performances….

Greyhounds Hockey Wrap Up PIHL Regular Season

Wilmington wrapped up its regular season with a 5-4 loss to McDowell at Brady’s Run Ice Arena on Tuesday. Ellwood City Names Sean McConahy As Next Football Head Coach

The Wolverines have their new head coach for its football program. Ellwood City hired Sean McConahy as its next head high school football coach during a special board meeting on Friday, February 20th. McConahy, a current science teacher at LHS, brings experience in the district, passion for football and conditioning, and coaching experience at one of more recent success stories in District 10 (Wilmington coaching staff). Braiden McClure Earns Runner-Up Mark In District AA Sectionals

Sophomore Braiden McClure finished runner-up in the 107-pound weight division at the District 7 AA Sectionals last weekend at Keystone Oaks High School. McClure opened up with a major decision victory before bowing out the in the finals to Angelo Boni of Central Valley. McClure now holds an individual match record of 22-7 this season. Gavin McClure pinned Jonah Hostutler of Keystone Oaks to earn a 3rd place finish in the 127-pound class. The Riverside Coed Swimming & Diving team hosted Central Valley on Wednesday Night as part of its senior night. The team will next turn its attention to the MAC Swimming Championships this weekend and the WPIAL Class AA Swimming Championships on February 26, 2026 at the University of Pittsburgh. The 2026 WPIAL/UPMC Sports Medicine Boys’ & Girls’ Swimming & Diving Championships begin with the diving championships on February 20-21 before concluding with the swimming championships on February 26-27.

ECASD Board of Directors Table Hiring of Head Football Coach for Special Meeting

Although the Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors, according to the agenda posted on the district’s website, was set to vote to hire a new head football coach during Monday’s meeting, a coach was ultimately not hired. The 7 p.m. public meeting was delayed 50 minutes as the board held an executive session for interviews.
