The Riverside Girls Soccer team wrapped up its regular season last week with a 4-0 victory over Sewickley Academy. All-American and Lincoln High School graduate Breanna Reisinger had nine kills as the No. 1-ranked Butler County Community College volleyball team won an unprecedented seventh consecutive Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference championship Saturday with a victory against the Community College of Beaver County. Ellwood City Fall Baseball Teams Both Earn Playoff Appearances; JV Defeated In Championship

The Ellwood City High School baseball teams wrapped up their respective fall campaigns with a combined 23-7 record between varsity and junior varsity with playoff appearances obtained by each squad. The teams were compromised of 36 players ranging from 7th grade to 12th grade. Varsity finished 10-4 (2-1 in playoffs) and missed the championship game by one run tie-breaker while the Junior Varsity finished an impressive 13-3 regular season campaign (3-1 in playoffs) and reach the championship game, falling 12-8 to the Blackhawk Cougars. The Riverside Panthers were defeated Friday night 49-21 by Western Beaver at Riverside Memorial Stadium. Running back Tyson Florence had a big game for Western Beaver, scoring six touchdowns in the victory over Riverside. The home game was the Riverside Homecoming with Elizabeth Frazier crowned the Riverside 2022 Homecoming Queen at halftime. Palmer-McCain Runs Wild, Wolverines Collect Road Victory Over Lions

Elijah Palmer-McCain ran wild Friday night, collecting 231 yards on 32 carries and accounting for all three of offensive touchdowns for Ellwood City as the Wolverines collected their second victory of the season, a 18-13 road triumph over New Brighton. The sophomore runningback took the Wolverine’s first play from scrimmage 63 yards to the endzone for a touchdown and scored on an 8-yard run in the second quarter to give the Ellwood City a 12-0 halftime advantage. Reece Pilarski Qualifies For WPIAL Golf Individual Championships

Riverside golfer Reece Pilarski has qualified for the WPIAL 2A Boys’ Individual Golf Championship after firing a round of 86 on Monday to advance. The Panther senior finished with a a round of (44-42. +16) on Monday at the Par-70 Hannastown Golf Club in Greensburg, PA. Pilarski collected four pars on the afternoon. Ellwood City Freshman Jordan Keller fired a round of 78 on Monday at Green Meadows Golf Course to qualify and advance to the WPIAL Class 2A Semifinals. Keller finished 5th overall in the Section V qualifier event, easily besting a target score of 86 to advance. The Ellwood City Wolverines Co-Ed Cross Country Team and Co-Ed Golf teams each collected victories last week to continue their respective winning streaks. Golf has now won four straight matches after losing four of their previous five matches. The Wolverines last week defeated the Mohawk Warriors in by far the biggest upset on the year by Ellwood City with a score of 214-218. Lincoln High School graduate Breanna Reisinger is helping lead a Butler County Community College volleyball team that enters the second half of its 2022 regular season this week upholding the highest national ranking the program has had in its history.
