Junior Joseph Roth scored a season high 42 points Friday night as the Wolverines routed Freedom 73-39 at Lincoln High School. The big man help propel Ellwood City to an early 18-10 lead with eleven first quarter points. Roth settled in with 18 points at halftime as the Wolverine held a comfortable 32-20 advantage over the Bulldogs. The Ellwood City girls basketball team raced out to an early advantage Thursday night en route to its 54-31 Riv-Ell victory over the visiting Riverside Panthers. The Wolverines used a 20 point first quarter to jump out to an early advantage they never relinquished on their home court. Wolverines Knock Off Undefeated Warriors 71-67

The Ellwood City Wolverines boys basketball team went on the road Tuesday night and knocked off an undefeated Mohawk team in a battle of Class 3A Section 1 titans. Both teams entered the evening with nine wins, but Ellwood City used a fourth quarter rally, outscoring Mohawk 25-15, to find its way to its 10th victory of the season. Ellwood City Wrestling Places 28th In Southmoreland Holiday Classic

Wolverine wrestler Ben Gallenz made it to the Championship Quarterfinals during day one matches Southmoreland Holiday Classic to help earn Ellwood City its 28th place finish in the two day wrestling tournament. The 139-pound Gallenz pinned Carl Raitano (Plum) at 1:57 in his opening round match-up and advanced to later earn a 9-1 decision victory over Keegan Young (Greensburg Salem) in Round 2 before falling in the Championship Quarterfinals. Wolverines Claim Mercer Christmas Tournament Championship

The Ellwood City Wolverines boys basketball team swept a mini, two-game tournament this week and claimed the Mercer Christmas Tournament championship. The Wolverines defeated tournament host Mercer 58-37 to wrap up its championship on Wednesday Joseph Roth led the Wolverines with 22 points (13 rebounds, six assists, three blocks) while junior Nate Williams joined him in double figures with 15 points (two 3-pointers) for Ellwood City who used a 22-point second quarter to race out to a 31-23 halftime advantage. OJ was still a well respected football analyst and Jimmy (Tritt), Fran (McLaughlin) and I (Brian Hudson) decided to go golfing with all of the new golf equipment that we had gotten for Christmas. EC Wrestling Shows Some Highlights In Sharpsville Duals

The Ellwood City Wrestling Team participated in the Sharpsville Walleye Duals this past week and showed some flare. The Wolverines picked up their first dual meet victory of the season with a 39-30 victory over Brockway, and finished the duals 1-4 as a team. “The kids came together as a team,” said head coach John Fleming. Pickleball To Be Offered At Ellwood City Family Center

Pickleball anyone? Come play the fastest growing sport in the nation!
