Bats Blister For Panthers Softball, Busby Shines On Mound For Wolverines

Bats Blistered as Riverside Panthers Defeats Beaver Falls, 14-9 Both pitching staffs had their hands full on Tuesday in a high-scoring affair where the Riverside Lady Panthers bested Beaver Falls, 14-9. The Panthers (1-1 overall) opened up scoring with a six-run first inning and crept out to a 9-2 lead before the Tigers were able to respond. Beaver Falls scored four runs in the third inning. Fox Powers Panthers In Blowout, EC Junior High Softball Collects First Victory

The Riverside Panthers easily dispatched New Brighton 11-1 on Monday afternoon at Dan Oliastro Field. Riverside (3-1 overall) got on the board in the first inning with some power as Austin Dambach smashed a 2-run home run to stake the Panthers to an early lead. After adding on in the second and fourth innings, the Panthers exploded for four runs in the sixth inning. Dambach, Danny Fox, and Nick Ottaviani powered the big inning with RBIs. Mittler’s Walkoff Picture Perfect Ending In Wolverines’s Victory Over Avonworth

A walk-off single propelled Wolverines to a decisive, dramatic victory over Avonworth, 20-19 on Friday afternoon. Wolverines trailed 19-18 in the bottom of the seventh inning after rallying from a double digit deficit when Reagan Mittler singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. There was plenty of action on the basepaths as Wolverines collected 13 hits and Avonworth had 11 in a wild game that featured four combined home runs, 24 walks by both teams, and ten combined errors in the contest. Panthers, Wolverines Baseball Teams On Opposite Ends of Shutouts

The Riverside varsity baseball team came out on the victors end of a shutout on Thursday while the Wolverines took a shutout defeat on Thursday. The Panthers defeated Mohawk Area 8-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Riverside notched four runs in the sixth inning. Ethan Ziegler, Danny Fox, and Brian MacMurdo all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Fox took the win for Riverside Riverside Panthers Varsity. Ellwood City Wolverines Can’t Catch Up To Armstrong

Ellwood City watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-4 loss to Armstrong on Saturday. Armstrong scored on a ground out by Caleb Harriger, a walk by Josh Hepler, an error, and a stolen base by Paul Cypher in a 5-run first inning. The Wolverines struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Armstrong, giving up 14 runs on 11 hits, with the defense surrendering four errors. Riverside Panthers Fall to Knoch After Sixth Inning Score

Riverside Panthers varsity baseball battled to tie their ball game late, but failed to hold the tie score int he sixth inning, surrendering two runs in a 4-2 defeat to Knoch on Wednesday at Pullman Park in Butler. The game was tied at two with Knoch batting in the bottom of the sixth when Gunnar Boehm’s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Knoch. Riverside lost despite out-hitting Knoch six to three. The Ellwood City baseball squad watched their Monday afternoon game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-2 loss to Shenango. The Wolverines struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Shenango, giving up 13 runs. Before the Pittsburgh Steelers take the court at Lincoln High School on Wednesday night, a co-ed basketball game with players from past boys and girls teams at Lincoln High School will tip off in an alumni contest at 7:00pm. Riverside Panthers Swimmers Ready For PIAA Championships

The 2018 PIAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be taking place this week at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and will feature five hopeful Panther swimmers. The Championships are schedule to take place Tuesday, March 13th through Thursday, March 15th at the Kinney Natatorium on Bucknell University campus.
