Lawrence County Man Sentenced for Fentanyl Conspiracy and Fraud PITTSBURGH, PA – A resident of Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced in federal court to time served to be followed by a 6-year term of supervised release on his conviction for distributing fentanyl, conspiring to possess with intent to distribute and distribute fentanyl, and conspiring to commit an offense (mail fraud) against the United States, United States Attorney Cindy K. Ellwood City Area Historical Society Offering Scholarship Opportunities

The annual Ellwood City Area Historical Society Scholarship submission is quickly approaching. The deadline is Thursday April 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. The Ellwood City Area Historical Society will award two $1,500.00 scholarships to two (2) graduating seniors. Graduating seniors from Lincoln High School and Riverside High School who have been accepted to attend a college, Trade School or Performing Arts are eligible. Applications may be received from the High School Student Guidance Counselor or from the Ellwood City History Center. Riverside Beaver Co School District Set To Begin 2022-23 Scheduling

Monday marks the beginning of the scheduling process for the 2022-23 school year at Riverside High School. According to a post on the district website, Monday, January 24 through February 4 starts scheduling presentations for grades 8-11 with a move up day scheduled in June. ECASD Public Meeting Notice Change

According to information made available by the district, the Ellwood City Area Board of Directors has changed the location of their Regular Board Meeting scheduled on March 10, 2022. The meeting will now take place at the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center (LCCTC) located at 750 Phelps Way, New Castle, PA 16101. PA State Police Investigating A Shooting At Clearview Mall Leaving 3 Injured

The Pennsylvania State Police, Troop D, Butler, are investigating a shooting that occurred at the Clearview Mall, Center Township, Butler County on Wednesday, January 18th, 2022. Over 20-gun shots were fired in the mall parking lot and multiple persons were struck with bullets and taken to a Pittsburgh hospital for their injuries. Portersville Mother Among First Students Accepted In A New BC3 Program

A 44-year-old native of the Philippines who in 2007 suspended her pursuit of higher education in health care at Butler County Community College following the birth of her special-needs daughter is among the first students accepted in a BC3 practical nursing program that debuted Tuesday. Yeng Carle, of Portersville, is the most senior of 10 students in BC3’s latest selective-admissions health care program. The practical nursing program at BC3 is the only one in Butler County and is a result of a partnership forged in June 2020 with Concordia Lutheran Ministries, a Cabot health care provider. Borough Approves Liquor License Transfer to El Canelo IX, LLC; Mayor Names New K9 Officer

Ellwood City Borough Council voted to approve the intermunicipal transfer of restaurant liquor license #R-17325 to El Canelo IX, LLC. El Canelo opened in Ellwood City at 1226 Lawrence Ave in October and has been serving Mexican food in Lawrence County since 2001. The manager of the restaurant, Antonio Porras, said at a January 10 council meeting that the license will be a great addition to help serve delicious beverages at the Ellwood City location. Ellwood City Winter Wine and Brew Fest to be Held in March

The Annual Ellwood City Winter Wine and Brew Fest has been postponed until March. The event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on March 26 at the Sons of Italy at 808 Lawrence Ave. It was  originally scheduled for Jan. 29. The event is an annual favorite and proceeds benefit Ellwood City Revitalization. The cost is $25 per person in advance and $30 per person at the door.
