Kindergarten Enrollment Upcoming At Riverside School District

Attention is called to parents of preschool students who live within the Riverside Beaver County School District. Kindergarten Enrollment for the 2022-2023 School Year is set to begin Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Children who will be 5 years old before September 1, 2022 and are residents of the Riverside Beaver County School District are eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2022–2023 school year. Kindergarten Screening Day is schedule for March 17, 2022. A time will be chosen upon completion of registration. PennDOT Issues Updates to Planned Vehicle Restrictions in Advance of Winter Weather

Harrisburg, PA – In anticipation of winter weather beginning later today, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) are adjusting planned vehicle restrictions that were announced yesterday. Highlighted information indicates a change from the January 14 announcement. Additional speed and vehicle restrictions on these and other interstates could be added depending on changing conditions. Restrictions will be communicated via variable message boards, the 511PA traveler information website and smartphone apps. Motorists can also sign up for personalized alerts on the website. POLICE: Weekly Police Blotter

MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT: New Castle Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on January 8th on West Lawrence Avenue in Wayne Township. A 2019 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling too fast downhill and swerved to miss an animal and then left the north side of the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck the left front end of a parked and unoccupied 2004 Ford F250. The Chevrolet came to a final rest on the north berm of West Lawrence Avenue. The Castlewood Rod and Gun Club is sponsoring a Gun Show this year on February 26th and 27th. The two day even will take place at the Wurtemburg Perry Fire Hall in Ellwood City. ECASD Hires Head Football Coach; Approves COVID Health and Safety Plan

The Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors hired Daniel Bradley to serve as head coach of varsity football. Bradley received unanimous support from the board. He will be paid $7,000. “The students are elated,” said Brian Partridge, football boosters president, who was in attendance at the meeting. Bradley has a decade of experience serving as head coach. Lincoln High School Releases Updated COVID-19 Policies

With the new COVID-19 variant lurking, schools are now taking a closer look at their policies and making changes they see fit. Lincoln High School has made some changes and updates to their mask policies and what to do about positive cases. These policies will go into effect starting Friday, January 14th. Historical Society Updates From First Meeting Of 2022

The Ellwood City Area Historical Society held their first general meeting for the year 2022 on Monday January 10th. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag led by Guy Prestia, a World War II veteran. The first order of business was the installation of officers elected in November, led by past president Al Kocher.
