Brown Announces Area Career and Technical School Receives Grant

HARRISBURG – Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) today announced the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center in New Castle will receive an $85,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) for the purchase of new equipment aligned to training students in high-demand occupations. “Career and technical education can provide incredible opportunities for students to pursue good-paying jobs in industries critical to our economy,” said Brown. “This grant will help more individuals seize those opportunities and achieve a lifetime of success.” There are more than 80 career and technical centers in Pennsylvania that offer a combination of classes and hands-on-learning programs….

THEFT: On January 17th, at approximately 7:32 a.m., police investigated the report of theft in Perry Township. Police discovered that one or more unidentified people broke into unlocked vehicles, according to criminal complaint. No one has yet to be charged. ECASD Board of Directors Approve Changes to High School Curriculum; Face More Feedback from CEPP Group

Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors approved requested changes to the High School Curriculum during the February 8, 2024 regular meeting. The changes were requested by Lincoln High School Principals, Mike Garvin and John Sovich. Garvin spoke previously at the committee meeting saying that the changes would benefit the students and have been a long time coming. New Advocacy Group Formed to Preserve Ewing Park, Oppose Planned Softball Field

A new advocacy group has been formed to preserve Ewing Park. The Citizens for Ewing Park Preservation (CEPP) group was announced during Ellwood City Area School District’s Board of Directors Committee Meeting Monday evening. Ellwood City Family Center Offering Six-Week Indoor Soccer Session
