On a morning brimming with joy, celebration, and gratitude, Divine Grace Parish’s Holy Name Society gathered on Sunday, June 14th at the 9:00 a.m. Mass for the annual Altar Server Appreciation Tribute at Holy Redeemer Church in Ellwood City.
Attendance at that Mass included the parish’s congregation, along with Holy Name Society members. Senior Priest Father John Gallagher celebrated the Mass.
The Mass celebration included an announcement of the names of the three altar servers honored.
A keepsake recognition plaque, inscribed with their many years of faithful service at the Masses and other ceremonies throughout the liturgical years, was then presented to the altar server present by Father John Gallagher.
The thee altar servers honored are; Dimitri Matusiak, with four years of faithful service at St. Gregory Church, Henry Belsterling – with eight years of faithful service at St. Gregory Church – and Ben Panthalukaran – with eight years of faithful service at St. Ferdinand Church.
It was emphasized that serving at God’s altar during the Holy Mass is not only a great honor but also an essential service in the Catholic Church. As an altar server, one is deeply immersed in the liturgical tradition of the Church, playing a crucial role in the church community.
“Altar serving is a crucial, influential and visible ministry that lays the foundation for a lifelong devotion to the Church,” HNS president, Frank Aloi commented.
A brief HNS meeting was held in the Holy Redeemer Catholic Center, after the altar server recognition Mass.
