Annual Earth Day Event Cancelled, Virtual Art Contest Announced

The Lawrence County Earth Day Committee announced the cancellation of the annual Earth Day festivities.  The event will be replaced with a virtual art contest. In the statement received this week, the committee stated, “We are committed to keeping our visitors safe and healthy at Earth Day; therefore, the Lawrence County Earth Day Committee has decided to cancel the event scheduled for April 18th in Ewing Park.” In lieu of holding the event, a virtual art contest for all ages will be held to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. Cambridge Falls to Offer Retirement Living Care at New Wampum Facility

Cambridge Falls, a personal care and memory care facility, located at 599 Norwood Drive in Wampum, the 26-acre facility is accepting resident applications. Following an 18-month, $1 million renovation project, the team is ready to open the doors. Ellwood City Annual Easter Egg Hunt Cancelled

According to information made available this afternoon, the 25th Annual Easter Egg hunt has been cancelled. In a statement from the committee, and due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Ellwood City Area Egg Hunt has to cancel this year’s community Easter Egg hunt that was suppose to take place on Saturday April 4, 2020. *Press Release from Ellwood City Area School District The Ellwood City Area School District will be providing meals to any child 18 and under. Breakfast will be from 8 to 9 a.m. and Lunch will be from 11:30-12:30. Ellwood City Public Library Closes To Coincide With School Closures

On Friday, and in advance to the national state of emergency declaration, the state of Pennsylvania stepped up containment efforts by ordering a two-week closure of all public schools and urging residents to stay away from malls, gyms and other public spaces. In accordance, the Office of Commonwealth Libraries has instructed all Pennsylvania public libraries to close Saturday through March 29, to coincide with the school closure.
