7th Annual Pine Valley Ride for Hope Scheduled In September

Pine Valley’s annual motorcycle Ride for Hope on September 12th is just 5 weeks away. This year, a meal will be served and will be accompanied by musical entertainment provided by the classic rock band Street Level. All proceeds benefit Pine Valley Camp, now in it’s 25th year of serving at-risk youth. The event will go on rain or shine, and in case of rain a shorter bike route will be taken. The cost is $30 for drivers, $15 for passengers, and $15 for walk-in diners. Drivers get a shirt and both passengers and drivers get a meal as well….

Allegheny Aquatic Alliance Presented Proclamation

Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a proclamation to the Allegheny Aquatic Alliance on July 29th, 2020. This outstanding group established in 2009 has been known for “Connoquenessing Creek Clean Up,”-Removing over  500,000 pounds of trash and over 5,500 tires from the creek. In 2018, Mayor Court presented the group with a plaque that marked “I couldn’t be more proud of a group of individuals! The time and effort put forth by Allegheny Aquatic Alliance is astonishing. Calvin Presbyterian Announces Free Sub Giveaway

Calvin Presbyterian Church will be giving away Italian Subs from Venezia’s on Saturday, August 8. The subs are completely free and can be picked up from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm in the church parking lot. Calvin Presbyterian Church is located at 615 Crescent Avenue in Ellwood City.  The church office is open from 9:00 am until noon Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  The church is accessing email and phone messages remotely, and can be contacted at 724-758-4258 or calvinellwood@gmail.com.


Penn State Master Gardener Hosting Basic Training Class

The Penn State Master Gardeners of Lawrence County will be hosting a Basic Training Class beginning Fall 2020. There will be an Informational Meeting to discuss the Training Class along with addressing any questions candidates may have. #6 Winner of The Beautification Award

Mayor Anthony J. Court announced the final winner for the 2020 Beautification Awards. Winner #6 is Sam Barry of Madison Avenue. Congratulations, Sam, on a job well done. Sam was presented with a yard sign and a gift certificate to a local restaurant. Mayor Court thanks all of the citizens who submitted nominations this year and stated it  was “another successful year for this program!” “Congratulations to all  the winners and I am already looking forward to next year which will be the 11th year of this successful program,” said Court.


Word Alive Church To Host Free Drive-In Movie

Looking for a fun Friday night family activity? Head over to Word Alive Church tomorrow night (July 24) for a free drive-in movie night. “Word Alive is putting this event on to give a safe fun event for the community during the pandemic,” said Word Alive Church Pastor Matthew Reynolds. “We will also offer free popcorn and snacks (handed out in prepackaged bags). COVID-19 Friendly Community Nights

This weekend and into the week, two organizations have decided to host COVID-19 friendly community night events. On Friday, July 24, there will be an outdoor movie night and concert hosted at the Ewing Park Stage. Food will be served at 7:00 and on the menu is meatball sandwiches, penne, salad, deserts, and drinks. To meet CDC requirements for food, all those serving will be masked and gloved. At 7:30 a concert will be held, playing worship music similar to what listeners here on K-LOVE, and finally at 9:00 the move “The Sandlot” will be played in its G-rated form…
