Going, Going, Gone! Home Run Derby Planned For Club Hope Foundation

There will be a wonderful day of HOPE at the ball fields next weekend.  Club Hope Foundation is holding a home run derby on Sunday, September 13, at Bradshaw Park in North Sewickley Township. “We are excited to report that we are up to 84 participants in this event!” said Club Hope founder Cara Atkinson. “Thank you all for your Facebook fundraising! Victory Over Japan Day, also known as VJ Day, and its 75-year anniversary was celebrated this week. Ellwood City Mayor Anthony Court & WW II Veterans from Ellwood City and American Legion Post #157, along with Lawrence County and Beaver County Honor Guards celebrated VJ Day at the American Legion Park. Mayor Anthony J. Court presented a Proclamation to American Legion Post, Commander Joe Fisher commending the victory. Mayor Court,  American Legion Post 157, WW II Veterans and the Honor Guards conducted a program commemorating VJ Day. Commander (Ret) Robert Morabito served as the Master of Ceremonies. ‘VJ Day’ Ceremony Planned

American Legion Post 157 will be having a ceremony commemorating VJ Day (Victory over Japan). The event will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Legion Park in Ellwood City. There will be a special wreath-laying ceremony celebrating the 75th anniversary. The public is invited to attend and the Legion Post 157 asks you to please social distance and wear a mask during the ceremony. Calvin Presbyterian Church Hosting GriefShare Program This Fall

Calvin Presbyterian Church will once again host a 13-week GriefShare Program this fall, beginning in September. The program will take place each Sunday from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm beginning September 13 and concluding December 13. The church will have a special session, “Surviving the Holidays”, on November 4 during the time slot. No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process. A GriefShare seminar/support group is being hosted and sponsored by Calvin Presbyterian Church, with Ginny Brest as the facilitator. 7th Annual Pine Valley Ride for Hope Scheduled In September

Pine Valley’s annual motorcycle Ride for Hope on September 12th is just 5 weeks away. This year, a meal will be served and will be accompanied by musical entertainment provided by the classic rock band Street Level. All proceeds benefit Pine Valley Camp, now in it’s 25th year of serving at-risk youth. The event will go on rain or shine, and in case of rain a shorter bike route will be taken. The cost is $30 for drivers, $15 for passengers, and $15 for walk-in diners. Drivers get a shirt and both passengers and drivers get a meal as well….
