PHOTOS: Welsh Leads Wolverines To Wet & Wild Senior Night Victory

As if one overtime was not enough on a wet and sloppy Friday Night, the Ellwood City and Brentwood non-conference game stretched over three hours and into a third overtime before the Wolverine came out victorious, 34-26, to cap off their 2018 season in victorious fashion. Ellwood City Senior Brady Welsh scored on a 6-yard run to secure a triple overtime and led a Wolverine defense that stifled Brentwood’s last chance in the third OT frame as fellow senior Ricky Pitrelli intercepted a final pass attempt by Brentwood QB John Milcic. Library Activities For the Week Of October 29

The Ellwood City Area Public Library offers a variety of weekly activities.  Information is available by calling the library at 724-758-6458. Activities taking place this week include:   TUESDAY, OCTOBER 30 10:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. – “Family Laptime,” designed for babies as young as 6 month of age, toddlers, and preschoolers.  This is an interactive, family event and features stories, songs, games, finger plays and more.  Registration is requested. Man Arrested Near Portersville Trafficking $2.5M of Meth and Cocaine

PITTSBURGH – A West Virginia man has been arrested and charged in federal court in Pittsburgh with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine after his arrest near Portersville, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced Thursday. The criminal complaint, filed on October 22, charges Durell Anthony Jones, 33, of Fairmont, West Virginia, with drug conspiracy, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. On Saturday, October 27 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. you can join Digital Paranormal Investigations to investigate the Wampum Train Station. You might just witness something that’s not completely human. The event is being sponsored by Wampum Community Revitalization. Digital Paranormal Investigations is a group that investigates supposedly haunted buildings, areas, or they even make house calls to homes that the people that live there believe that something else is in the house. Gaming Control Board To Hold Public Input Hearing For Mount Airy Casino

HARRISBURG, PA: The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board announced Thursday that it will hold a public input hearing on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 in the social room of the Big Beaver Borough Fire Station #14 to collect testimony on the Category 4 casino application submitted by Mount Airy #1, LLC. Corona D’Italia Lodge #807 held their Columbus Day Dinner on Tuesday, October 9 at 5:00 p.m. The dinner was held at the Wolverine Restaurant. Orator, Valerie Valentino, who was serving as acting President and Chairman for this event, greeted guests on arrival. Historian, Mary Jane Folino, assisted by presenting favors to all in attendance. Registration was conducted by Patty Kuhn and prize tickets were distributed by Sentinel and acting Secretary, Lois DiFrischia along with member Maura Greco. Man Charged With Burglary, Trespassing & Threats In Wayne Township

On Friday, October 12, just after 10:00 p.m, state police were called to a house on Guy Way, Wayne Township with reports of a white male breaking into a females home. The witness that called in stated he was throwing a party with a group of his friends when he noticed the male entering his neighbors home. He proceeded to then go to his neighbors house and observed the male, who he identified as the victims ex-boyfriend Zachary Dinell, 25, of Freedom, ransacking the living room and kitchen. Panthers, Lady Wolverines Both Looking To Advance In WPIAL Playoffs Thursday

Two local high school teams will continue their championship quests in their respective WPIAL playoff games Thursday evening. The Riverside boys soccer team marched onto the second round of the Class 1A WPIAL Playoffs with a 2-0 victory Monday night over Carlynton. The Panthers (11-2-1 overall) are set to face off against Avonworth Thursday evening at Ambridge with a 6:30 game time.  Avonworth defeated Mohawk 4-0 in their opening round contest.
