PHOTOS: Welsh Leads Wolverines To Wet & Wild Senior Night Victory

As if one overtime was not enough on a wet and sloppy Friday Night, the Ellwood City and Brentwood non-conference game stretched over three hours and into a third overtime before the Wolverine came out victorious, 34-26, to cap off their 2018 season in victorious fashion.

Ellwood City Senior Brady Welsh scored on a 6-yard run to secure a triple overtime and led a Wolverine defense
that stifled Brentwood’s last chance in the third OT frame as fellow senior Ricky Pitrelli intercepted a final pass attempt by Brentwood QB John Milcic.

Welsh collected a second rushing touchdown earlier in contest and also returned a punt for 65-yards in the third quarter for the Wolverines.

Ellwood City (3-7) was led on the ground by Donavin Chambers, who ran for a game-high 111 yards on 23 carries. Pitrelli ran for a touchdown in overtime while quarterback Ryan Gibbons also for a touchdown.

Milcic threw for 165 yards and a touchdown and ran for 104 yards and three TDs for Brentwood (4-6) in defeat.

For the season, Chambers led the Wolverines with nearly 800 yards rushing. Joining Chambers in the offensive attack was Pitrelli who finished the 2018 campaign with over 700 all purpose yards and a team-high nine touchdowns. Senior Coulton Cunningham led the defense in tackles while Welsh led the secondary in interceptions on the season.

Prior to the start of Friday night’s football game, all Ellwood City fall sport seniors were recognized.
