Tickets Available For Wolverines Opening Round Playoff Contest

Ellwood City has qualified for the WPIAL playoffs for the first time since 2011. The #14 seeded Wolverines will travel to face the #3 seeded Washington Prexies on Friday at 7:00 PM at Washington High School Stadium. Kick off is 7:00 p.m. for the opening round contest. Tickets for Ellwood City Football playoff game are available on GoFan.co Cost of tickets will be $5.00 for Student and $7.00 for Adults on the GoFan.co website. Tickets will also be sold at the gate. PHOTOS: Wolverines Run Past Panthers, Clinch First Playoff Berth Since 2011

Ellwood City used a strong running game powered by Elijah Palmer-McCane to rout Riverside 41-0 Friday Night at Riverside Memorial Stadium. The ‘RivEll Cup’ victory also clinched the Wolverines first playoff berth since 2011. Palmer-McCane scored four first half rushing touchdowns as the visiting Wolverines jumped out to a 35-0 halftime advantage. In the first quarter, Palmer-McCane scored from 1-yard out and later in the quarter from 41-yards out. History is being made at Ellwood City. In a wild offensive showcase Friday night that featured over 100 combined points and 1,000 combined yards of offense by the Wolverines and Lions, another pair of century marks were reached individually by two Ellwood City juniors who combined to lead the Wolverines to a 62-40 victory on Homecoming night. Running back Elijah Palmer-McCane rushed for 285 yards and four touchdowns on the ground and quarterback Chris Smiley threw for 275 yards and five touchdowns. Wrona, Mohawk Use Aerial Attack To Down Ellwood City 38-14

Jay Wrona tossed four touchdowns, including one with time expired in the first half, to lead Mohawk to its 38-14 victory Friday night at Helling Stadium. The section-leading Warriors used the arm of Wrona and a stout defense to earn the victory. The WPIAL’s leading rusher, Elijah Palmer-McCane was bottled up on the ground, finishing with just 35 yards on 11 carries for the Wolverines. Western Beaver Scores Big, Downs Ellwood City 41-18

An opportunistic Golden Beavers football team racked up 475 yards of total offense on its way to a 41-18 victory over Ellwood City Friday Night. The Western Beaver offense accounted for only 9 first downs in the contest and possessed the ball for only 15:51 (compared to Ellwood City’s 32:09 minutes of possession) but used quick scoring drives and big scoring plays to post six touchdowns and earn its road victory. Chris Smiley threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Ellwood City Wolverines to a 34-14 victory over Freedom Friday Night at Helling Stadium. The section victory improved the surging Wolverines record to 3-1 on the season – already eclipsing their win total from last year. Ellwood City used a 17-yard fourth quarter touchdown run by running back Elijah Palmer-McCane to break at 12-12 tie and lead the Wolverines to its 25-12 victory over Carlynton Friday night at Helling Stadium. Ellwood City saw two, early 14-point advantages disappear on Friday as the Wolverines fell to Union Area 34-21 at Helling Stadium. The Wolverines collected the first two scores of the contest and a momentum-swinging 90-yard fumble return by Deklan O’Brien put Ellwood City ahead 21-7 midway through the second quarter. However, the Wolverine offense stalled in the second half and the visiting Scotties roared back with 27 unanswered points to earn the victory. Palmer-McCain Runs Wild, Wolverines Collect Road Victory Over Lions

Elijah Palmer-McCain ran wild Friday night, collecting 231 yards on 32 carries and accounting for all three of offensive touchdowns for Ellwood City as the Wolverines collected their second victory of the season, a 18-13 road triumph over New Brighton. The sophomore runningback took the Wolverine’s first play from scrimmage 63 yards to the endzone for a touchdown and scored on an 8-yard run in the second quarter to give the Ellwood City a 12-0 halftime advantage.
